If I remember correctly he said that about the plastic motor end cap as his opinion was it should have been metal to take construction site handling, i.e. When the saw is laid on its side, bouncing around a pickup bed, etc. I don't think he sees a contractor blowing the dust off the saw and pulling out the paste wax before putting it back into a case.
While there were other areas like gears and bushings where his opinion was they could have done better I think in a number of reviews he stated it would take the marketplace to find if those items were failure points in construction use. And I would agree with that as with any engineered item, what works or does not work on paper or computer screen is not necessarily what works in real life. (Which is why experienced people in all fields are so valuable). We spent three years running products through simulated and real world testing before product launch and still it could take another year or so to find all the issues customers would have that were not expected.

hey guys, New to the forum, i was shown this by ghostfist as im looking at getting a Mafell plunge saw/kss now what im struggling to find is a true view of both and which is honestly THE BEST? i just want the BEST plunge saw any help or info would be greatly appreciated As mentioned "Best" depends. I do mostly sheet goods, and I do not even like sheets. Most of the wood I cut is small too. Biggest lately is 2x4s. The mt55 works great on that stuff on the track... Even have a 550-mm long track for sudo kss work. It is great with the Bosch mitre head attached. I am interested in trying the Kss400, but have not yet,

I hope the video was not submitted in one of the threads. Found it recently and think it's worth sharing. Have a look at the Festool TS55 'guts'. I wonder what are the guts of MT55...

Keep in mind it also depends on the amount of use. If I was a home owner building a shop I would by the Festool. Local dealer and its a real bang for your buck. As a home owner the only feature on the Mafell that could sway my decision would be Mafells rail system.....which is certainly the best system around.

The other aspect that could sway the decision is the saw. It is a brilliant tool. So you get a better rail system, and a top saw.
The only reasons I can see to not go with that are: - 220v causes heartburn. - cost. - Already have FT rails. - Or in an area where Bosch/Mafell rails are unavailable and importing them causes heartburn.
