It's great to hear that Timberwolf Tools is standing behind the Mafell tools and it sounds like they're providing exceptional service. I adore my KSS40, I call it my "Mighty Saw". I have a corded KSS300 that I've kept in inventory as I can't bring myself to let it go. If nothing else it's a great backup to the KSS40 should it go down for repairs, or those days when it's too cold for cordless tools....

The stock blade it came with....cant remember. He said the blade was still sharp/ good. Hassle or no hassle I'll be buying another soon. I'll need a 2nd to use on large commercial job Or maybe I'll grab the kss50. But at 12lbs it's lil heavier then my hilti sc 60w. It would amazing and probably send sales thru the roof if they had a 30 day thing like festi does. Then you can try and 99% of the time never send back.

Not sure I'd want to see sales 'thru the roof'... it's a small company, they'd be forced to expand, look maybe at other fabrication sites, and as has happened with other once great brands, quality would suffer or they'd get gobbled up by a huge faceless corporation.

1st day back. Maybe 30 cuts.... and falls off. Is this normal. Like festi always had some stupid quirk that nutjobs spent days writing about on fob.

I fitted the black rubber one from one of the other Mafell KSS saws (I think it's the KSS300) - it sticks better and lasts longer, not quite as crisp cuts if you're doing flooring. If it's for decking or outside work, a better choice I would say.

Here are the part numbers : 204371 - replacement red splinter strip for the crosscut rail - Kss300 + Kss40 203633 - replacement black rubber splinter strip for the FX140 flexi rail - Kss300 + Kss40 It's the second one I have, better suited to decking and outside work. Also you'll get 3 or 4 out of a strip, so pretty cheap too. Timberwolf have it here - www.timberwolftools.com/splinter-guard-for-flexi-guide

Try making a cut at ~5mm depth of cut, then check with your speed square to see if you get the same result.
Sometimes it’s possible to be just on one side or the other of the detent, can you validate that the 45 detent is firmly and securely indexed?
It looks like you’re cutting composite decking, is it possible that your guide is shifting a bit during the cut?
Composite decking is a mess to work with, is it possible the locating pin had debris between it and the decking board?
Other info that would be helpful to know if which blade you’re using, fresh or used blade, in which direction you’re mitered (left or right), cutting the material face-up or face-down, feed rate, etc....

It's easy for the rail to move during a forced cut (either from hard material or a worn blade) - if this is the case, look at your rail holding technique. I have found using my left hand at the furthest edge of the board with my thumb pushing down on the left hand edge of the rail helps in these cases.
Tom is correct about not always tightening on the detent.
Another thing worth looking at is how square is your square. I regularly check mine using the left then right technique of a straight edge, and either marking up with a fine point pencil, or scribing a line with a knife - any divergence in lines means the square needs to be binned.
I've found Starrett squares to be good - get a longish one, put it across the two stops on the rail and check the cutting edge is square.
