Our Leitz rep dropped these off for me today. When I looked at them in his 'bible' they were just named dowel drills, but on the actual case they're marked as 'Dublebohrer'. Maybe Leitz make them for Mafell?

If they were made for Mafell they would be able to make all the sizes.

The thread is kind of old. But I think still up to date. Here I have some pic's of CMT and Mafell bits next to each other. Here a 6 mm Mafell and a 5 mm CMT. Overall length is equal, but with the Mafell one can use the 40 mm plunge depth. The same with 8 mm bits. I guess it's not really an issue since one could drill holes for 8 by 60 dowels which I think is not the usual case. With bigger bits it should not make a difference. Whats funny though is that the CMT "Dowel Drill for Mafell" is rated at 4500 rpm max. I just wanted to point out the differences. Maybe one needs this extra 10 mm length. But this and the fact that CMT has a 4 mm where Mafell has only a 3 mm one makes me think CMT is not the supplier for the Mafell bits. Cheers Martin

Mafell, Festool and Lamello go a bit more spendy with their oem cutters than the likes of CMT. For better or worse, they get their cutting tools from the industrial arena and they have quite the selection, locally.
