I did not realize that the AC-to-36vdc electronic transformer is a brick in the middle of the cord and not contained inside the battery shell (??) C3607DRA Hikoki Home Page Link

Hmm, that brick was kind of expected but still not a very elegant solution. If put on a bench or foldable cart/stand it can be "integrated" into the whole package though so not that big of a deal breaker for me. It is good that the cable to the transformer is pretty long, makes it easier to find a spot for it. I am thinking one can either have it on a bench in the workshop with the corded option and if going on site you can go cordless (yet still bring the adapter if needed).

Yes - where did you order it from?
I would love to get my hands on either saw. I like the J-spec 165 for size. I hardly ever use the full length of cut so it would suffice for me but if the new one is the only one available it is still small enough for me.

Fussy buggers! Yes, it surely does compromise the overall package portability, but the innate advantages far outweigh this.... A combined mass of either 800g or 1200g (I can't read characters) is reassuringly heavy, indicative I assume of a healthy iron core tranny & HD rectifier in there somewhere.
Given that current draw is rated @ 900w, there's presumably a healthy dose of headroom available too. This should accomodate instantaneous current spikes of twice or more the rating. Big is good. So is heavy. This all makes for a nice, smooth, reliable DC supply which is just the thing for EC motor longevity. With all that extra mass freed from hanging off the SCMS carriage pivot & hinge, it should also assist overall accuracy & repeatability too.

I’ll take one of each please. I miss the old days before the internet when you didn’t see a new tool until it you walked into your local lumber supply and saw it sitting on the shelf in stock and could could just take it home. Now it’s like being a kid waiting for Santa to come with new tools released in the United States.

arvid: yes, that is on point! I am usually not a fan of buying things I haven't been able to leave some fingerprints on before a purchase but last couple of years I have had to pull the online trigger as there has been a few items that no one has had in stock or just on special order. I could also do with one of each - it is ok to be a hoarder as long as the gear gets used.

Sorry, if it wasn’t clear from my earlier posts, I’m talking about the 6-1/2” Circular Saw (the “Deep Cut”, lol) but in 36V/MultiVolt form, NOT the SCMS. And yes, I got it off eBay.
And another error on my part: it’s UK 230V spec, not J-100V. It’s coming from the UK to me in USA CA (so hoping it doesn’t rack up huge duty/broker fees, but..?)
That’s interesting about the transformer brick, and yes that seems awkward placement if using a circ saw onsite; I suppose it’s looking more and more like it will always be run on batteries (as expected).

All hikoki can tell me about the c07dra is mid 2019 for the UK. I'm trying to get one from JPN but not easy so far so might be Makita in the interim .

Mid 2019 sounds just about right for us too then, will keep pestering the pushers nest for updates. It will hopefully arrive just in time for summer. Fingers crossed.
