Calidecks: Ok, I am hoping mine will arrive a bit earlier. Called today and the rep has ordered three in, one for me. He is going to get back to me with delivery dates - and price. I am bracing for impact on the pricing - your invoice is giving me an indication of the damage... Mafelluser: Dustbag is supposedly included. Does not come cheap as a spare apparently!

Do my eyes deceive me? Did you have to pay for a dustbag, or is one included and you just decided to buy a spare one, for another machine? The dust bag is only included in the cordless 55cc. But it fits the kss50. I ordered an extra.

Lomme: what new Metabo tools? Interesting. Calidecks: awesome! Hope they have rapid delivery. I am calling my pusher this week to find out if they have confirmed price and delivery date. Hoping to be early too - but hopes are not too high on getting any from the first batch. Metabo is releasing alot of new cordless tools soon including, cordless table saw, vacuum, mixer, pole sander for sheetrock compound and looks like a new hammer drill as well as a couple more. They also just came out with two other new sanders that look just like the Mirka Deros, and are introducing 7.0AH and 3.5AH compact batteries packs. Looks like there will be alot of new tools to chose from that's a blessing and a curse for me being a tool junkie.

Does it also fit corded MT55? I would imagine. The port hole on the 60 is the same size as my mt55cc. It makes sense the cordless port hole is the same. Here's the email I recieved from Tobias

$35- sounds pretty fair to me. I'll be curious to see how it attaches etc.

kraftt: it is 35 Euro. Not cheap. But, ok I guess, if it works fine. Which I think it does.
I have been rocking the KSS40 all day today. I did have to cut down some 66mm thick beams for a roof... ...which even the KSS50 could not have done so the 40 cut at full depth and then the beam was flipped and cut again.
It actually worked well but it would have been super to cut in one go - that would have required the KSS 85 corded though... ...or the chainsaw Mafell on rails. The KSS 40 does not struggle much at full depth of cut so I am still impressed.

( ...thanks, got in late )
So $39, still not too bad - for mafell. I think we're going to have a fairly decent if informal 'shoot-out' review here soon with calidecks owning both Fest & Maf and others here buying generics etc.

disappointing that the saw does not come with a dustbag as standard, also, has this saw a new blade size?,on calidecks invoice it states 168mm diameter for the blades he has ordered,if correct this would give a little more depth of cut.

Only 7 quid down the drain, so I'm not crying; it's more an inconvenience. Maybe I'll get the new Mafell bag, but I'll wait to see how others get on with it, first.

...dust port on my MT55cc is blocking way too quickly with this bag... I’m disappointed to hear that. Perhaps it has something to do with the breathability or the fabric, they could have even changed material suppliers from the one your father is using? Or perhaps the box-like design that both Fest & Maf have chosen is part of the formula. have you tired any internal wire mods to give it structure?

Yep, I tried several bags I had laying around from years of being a toolaholic. That was the problem with all of them, clogging up. The Festool bag works great though. It drags a little when it has a load in her diaper. From what I can see with the Mafell bag, it's got a "horseshoe" shape to it on the bottom.

I sold off everything Festool except the Midi and Kapex.

Lomme: what new Metabo tools? Interesting. Calidecks: awesome! Hope they have rapid delivery. I am calling my pusher this week to find out if they have confirmed price and delivery date. Hoping to be early too - but hopes are not too high on getting any from the first batch. There's a few new tools on the way from Metabo. Recently released are 3.5 & 7.0ah LiHD batteries, plus a new suite of 3 speed drills: BS & SD variants in both Quick & St'd. versions. Same lower 2 gears as before, but top now reaches an extremely useful (for sheet metalwork) 3800 RPM. All are equipped with EC motors. I suspect that this ubiquity of brushless motors signals the incipient demise of their 2 & 4 pole motor range/s. There's also a hideously expensive worksite oriented aluminium briefcase styled 8-bay charger. Current tools such as the 36v grinder & SDS hammer have been updated to include 2 x 18v versions and a new "dustless" extracted dedicated 18v SDS (at last) in a similar aesthetic to the latest from Milwaukee & Bosch. There's also a new 18v 7" grinder. Another first. Plus yet another family of cordless grinder-based concrete tools: surface renovators, grinders & polishers that will undoubtedly have parallel uses in wood too. Although why one would consider a cordless Rotex type sander is beyond me (too big-too heavy). I suppose it has some sort of market niche desirability. There's a badge engineered Hitachi 18v planer on the way with Metabo livery & battery interface, an 18v stirrer, a giraffe sander and there's been some tantalising cordless mockups of their current corded tools on display at Ligna 2017. Their table saw (TS216/254?), a rather unconvincing compressor and a rather interesting "lunchbox" integrated vac along the lines of the Bosch Ventaro or Festo CTL Sys. The latter in particular has an interesting (solenoid controlled?) on/off button on the hose end, which answers the recurrent bugbear of using a vac. on cordless tools without mains current triggering. There's also a cordless mockup of a 4 x 18v (or 2 x 36v?) Starmix-type 35l M-certified vac. too, again with remote solenoid switching. These represent yet another path to the same end as Makita's bluetooth-enabled tools. Some of these tools seem timely and useful additions to the range (bigger batteries, 3 speed drills, a "dustless" SDS, remotely switched cordless vacs, whilst others are less than convincing. The Hitachi planer doesn't test as well as its peers, the lower powered table saw and 8-bay wall hung (but slow) charger are frankly a bit underwhelming. Maybe a bit too concentrated on "me too" badge engineering and gimmickry, and insufficient R&D expenditure on what really matters in the tool range. Personally I'd like to see some more developments around their brilliant 36v brushless motor, as fitted to the 9" grinder. Maybe start with some useful fixed speed cordless tools like a 10" or even 12" SCMS by inexpensively modifying a pre-existing corded platform, maybe an iteration of a 235-240mm pendulum cover saw, maybe even a proper 36v SDS Max hammer/breaker. Or what about plugging a few gaps in the existing range, too? Such as a more effective EC-motored impact driver. A better performing Sabre Saw? An brushless small (160-165mm) circular? Or a dedicated metal cutting circular saw? Metabo alone currently boasts in excess of 80 different tools running on their 18v platform. When combined with the Metabo batteried output of both Mafell & Rothenberger in addition, this makes for a pretty comprehensive, but not as yet all-encompassing cordless suite of tools. All the more surprising when one considers that a mere 10-15 years ago Metabo's cordless offerings were almost as abysmal & poorly performing as Festool's current range!
