hi guys first time trying to share photos so bear with me if I muck this up, got a Erika 85 about three months ago but soon after had an accident, was on crutches for some time but a little better now and able to get about on a walking stick, so set up the erika and snapped a few photos today, hope this link works, erika 85I am impressed with the machine, superb extrusions, everything usual amazing mafell quality,i got the mfa, multi purpose fence plus fence guide extension, supporting rails and extension table, sliding table and rip fence. the sliding table is not as good as I had hoped, I found it a real pain to get set up,everything you adjust is affected by further adjustments and so you end up going back and forward trying to get it right, perhaps it will get easier with practise. I have not cut anything yet(have to wait for help to get it to the workshop) but I may perhaps be still able to answer any questions or snap a few more photos, adrian

Wow, excellent high resolution pictures showing a lot of details, skinee! Sorry to hear you had an accident, but glad you're doing better and I wish you a full and speedy recovery.
I have a personal interest in the accuracy of the MFA miter gauge. I've been pondering attaching it to a custom workbench. I'm wondering about the accuracy over a distance of about 2m (approx. 79" for you imperialists). Could you tell if there's any slop to be detected when you try to budge the end of your miter fence? And is there any slop when set to any of the predetermined angle detents?
Thanks again for your contribution, a lot of people will appreciate these. That's a damn fine machine you have there!

well jonathan I seemed to notice a little slop when the mfa was set at 45 but not at 90,i just noticed it in passing I didn't investigate any further,I think it will be a journey of discovery for a little while, getting to know the machine will take time.

Whoa! That's great. This makes it a bit easier to get an impression of the machine. I was looking all over the web to find good photos of it. Thanks for posting.
I hope I will be more pleased with the slider, though. I will use it mostly in my small shop so I won't take it off very often, I don't think.

I am sure you will be pleased with the saw kalas, it is super but I am a little disappointed in the slider, its not the components,as you can see they are all top notch, the sliding table itself is beautifully machined but it deflects downwards too much with a little pressure for my liking, I think its as sturdy as a mobile saw's slider could be but there are design limits of course so as to keep the whole package light enough to be mobile, getting it set up is really fussy as the deflection means you have to compensate a little for that, I think I will be using the pull stroke for most cutting. I would advise you to get a good T-handle 5 and 6mm allen key and a 10mm combination spanner for set up,small allen keys and spanner are included but a little too small, torx screwdrivers would also be useful for the machine.

Is there anything not standard in your pictures? I am having trouble to picture what it comes standard.
So that miter or angle comes standard?

Here's the Erika 85 page from Mafell's catalog. It looks like they offer two additional "package deals" in addition to a base offering. The "Delivery Scope" in the red box shows what comes with the base version (971601).

Skinee, are the 'Y' hose connector dims that joins the white riving guard hose at the back of the saw 27 and 36mm? Would you need a reducer to use a 27mm hose to the vac?

Skinee, are the 'Y' hose connector dims that joins the white riving guard hose at the back of the saw 27 and 36mm? Would you need a reducer to use a 27mm hose to the vac? hi kalas, the 'y' piece has three different dimensions, can not measure them just now(almost 4:30a.m.) but here is the deal, the provided hose plugs snugly over the small opening on the top of the guard(shown with a grey 'lid' on some photos),the other end of the provided hose fits snugly inside the smallest diameter opening in the 'y' piece. The next largest opening on the 'y' piece then fits over the main outlet coming from the machine(there is a photo of this outlet showing a festool 27mm hose fitting snugly into it,i just tried the festool hose to see how it would fit) . That just leaves the largest opening on the 'y' piece, here you would insert a hose to go directly to the extractor,it must be a little over 50mm as I tried the 50mm end of a festool hose and it fits loosely(see photos),winding a little tape around the 50mm end should make it fit snugly.I have ordered a 50mm hose and extra 50mm connector and am going to make up a short dedicated hose with two 50mm end connectors, one end to my festool ct26 and the other(with the help of a little tape) to the large opening on the 'y' piece. sorry if this has been long winded but I have been concise as I can,by the way are you in NA,will your saw be 220v or 110v?,adrian

Thanks, Adrian.
I ordered a reducing socket 58/35mm. Hopefully, that will solve it. The machine I am getting is a 230v. I am in the US, yes.

Hi there, have solved the thing with the different diameters on my erika with a very cheap little part out of the DIY-store, think it costs me less than 2 euro. Didnt want order and wait for the mafell reduction-piece as discribed above... Here some pictures, fits perfectly. Pethaps i get a larger 50mm hose for my starmix vac one day... Edit:more pics in the next posts, sorry...
