I fail to see how the UK Amazon is a deal? other than it is in 110v. Shipping is very cheap and can be significant cost otherwise depending where you live.

btw - Amazon allows you to deliver to multiple addresses. One payor. Who's interested?

Well the DD40G MAXI went up $167 USD since I last looked, that kinda limits my interest some. Still saves $350 or so though.
I might wait it out till the last days of the promo and see if the price goes back down.

Hi all this is my first post and hopefully not too annoying. I've read through all of the threads regarding importing tools from Germany but can't seem to get any concrete info on cost. I'm looking at the Erika saw with sllider and router table attachment from Dictum at 2699 euro. I emailed them asking about shipping and import fees and haven't heard back. The other site you all are suggesting is elektrowerkzeig aaaaaaand i don't speak a lick of German so I'm a little lost. Anyone with some experience able to steer me in the right direction on what it's going to cost me above and beyond the list price and how to go about ordering? Appreciate it and thanks for having me!

Hey there, rizzoa - welcome to the forum. If you send an email to Tobias, at Elektrowerkzeug, he'll be able to answer any questions you have. His contact details are on the website. His English is perfect. Lincoln.

Hi all this is my first post and hopefully not too annoying. I've read through all of the threads..! Where are you at Rissoa13? I got info from both dictum and Tobias, so I am close to have all the answers. I saw on the TV at lunch time Tony talking about raising the GST...

I live on the east coast in New Jersey. Tobias got back to me already (+1 for customer service) and said that he'd only shipped one Erika to the states. He said the shipping coat to Los angelos was about 400 euro which I expected. That person picked the saw up at the airport my question is were there any import duty fees or anything else?
So he's going to get a quote to ship to NewArk or Philadelphia and we'll go from there! It's kind of crazy how much less the saw costs in Europe. Dictum has the 85 with sliding table and router table for less than 3k$ american. Timberwolf has just the saw at 3600 or so, which is pushing me to just get the 220v and a transformer.
Thanks for the welcome and your help.

I have never heard of duty. Going into Australia is a different matter.
'Jersey is closer so it should be less (or at least no more) than Los Angeles.
If you have it in a fixed location it may be possible to use a 220v outlet?? Or a 220v extension cord into a dryer outlet?

Looks like the euro is sliding a bit too. Maybe it will be back to equal to the dollar? Who knows. I've never had to pay any import duties when buying from Europe. I haven't done the airport cargo thing though.
The Erika comes in a very large box. Mine had some damage and I bought it from Timberwolf, so it can happen anywhere. They were great about fixing it though. I think the damage happened when the box was reduced to the smaller inner box prior to shipping it onwards to me within the U.S.

So for those that have them... Can the motor be removed from the Erika? Or does it looks problematic?
The reasoning is that the 70 pounds (32-kg) is the limit where things need to be on a pallet, rather than posted.

I'm probably going to go the transformer route when taking it out of the shop and then have a dedicated spot for it wth an outlet when I'm in the shop (which doesn't exist yet ?). I'm getting kicked out of our basement to make way for a kids playroom now that my second one is on the way. I have a 5hp 12" saw right now but I'm glad to give it up in return for something mobile anyway. Again Tobias has been seriously great to work with and is making this whole confusing process (to me) very easy. Once he gets the shipping quote back I'll be ordering up the Erika 85 with sliding table and router attachment which has me pretty psyched!

Sorry to bear the bad news, but one shouldn't expect to import tools from Germany (into the US) without paying fees.
Had a guy wait at the door while I wrote a check and, yes, that happened in 2015.
My apologies, once again, but I wouldn't want anyone to consider such an expensive purchase without all the facts.
By the way, welcome to the MUF. Use the "Messages" link above -- just below the photo of the Mafell saw -- if you want to discuss any details about the import process.
Best of luck, Red
