I'm pretty sure centrotec shouldn't fit. I tried it with a fein at my local dealer and it's machined just a few mm differently to ensure that centrotec chucks won't fit. Could be different on the metabo and bosch though

That's even better news. Re cxs, mind you I love my cxs, I've had one since they were first available here and I've seen demos like that in the past. But a standard 3" screw will get the little guy nice and hot for you. do more than one and your battery wont last ten mins. Even in the video you posted you can hear motor strain. CXS was developed mainly for lighter drilling like cabinet hardware and predrilling for screws, and it's perfect for that. those metabo's/mafell have 4amp batteries for them so they will be able to do a few more larger tasks without running flat off the hop. Haven't looked up a torque comparison though.
On the cxs, I love the ergonomics so much on it it would be hard for me to switch to a standard drill configuration on a similar drill

Could be different on the metabo and bosch though In the past I have taken a metal file and adjusted bits to fit. Only takes a minute with a vice and a good file. Its easier to buy the correct size but its cheaper to use what you have. Oh...Bosch tend to fit.

Ya I was talking more about the standard centrotec chuck fitting other model drills. It would be nice to go back to a standard ball detent but the ability to still use my centrotec bits in a new drill is a definite plus especially without modification.

Hi, all the 10,8V drills aren't made for big screws, even when the motor have enough torque, the gearbox will give up.

ya I wasn't disappointed that it was beyond the drills capacity. Not what I bought it for. Though I was HEAVILY using it for 1 1/2" to 2" screws into softwood, daily and it did great. It's kinda on its last legs now, more than likely the batteries but it was certainly a worthwhile piece of kit.

Listed specs seem to be the same for both the Metabo and mafell drills. To the americans, this drill (metabo) is available now and should be cheaper than the mafell rebranding once released.

Hmm. Alright, ordered one to try out. Not that I have any Centrotec things, but I figured I can modify some bits I have to make a driver that's shorter front to back than the CXS. The Metabo quick locking chuck isn't bad (it's built around the Wera Rapidaptor chuck), but the Centrotec has the length advantage since it uses the same 1/4" hex recess to hold the bit rather than having it sit on top of the stub.

Can someone confirm if the metabo quick locking (wera rapidadaptor) would fit on a festool drill? I am thinking no as the hex part will be too large. Can it be dismantled so that the hex part could be ground down to enable a fit? I have already done this to a wera kraftform rapidadaptor bit holder but this is 100mm or so long and will get a 75mm rapidadaptor to convert to centotec although the metabo if adaptable looks a better option? I do not want to buy centrotec bits as they are expensive and I have so many hex bits and drills which I want to continue using. That centrotec system is good but I hate having to be limited by a manufacturer into buying their non standard overpriced stuff. I have the pdc and it is a great drill.

From what I understand, metabo quick fixing system is just a touch smaller than centrotec. Thus the centrotec chuck will fit on metabo drills but metabo will not fit on festools.

It seems like metabo mafell and maybe bosch have got one over festool. You cant use their attachments on festool drills but you can use festool attachments on theirs. Plus you can use all hex bits to boot.
I remember someone also managed to get the festool chucks including the angle chuck to fit on the fein drill which has similar specs to the festool pdc. Pictures of this were posted in a thread on the fog some time back.

Ya fein is slightly bigger so centrotec won't fit.
