Doesn't look like anything special to me. I have several Festool C12 drills and really like them. The C class drills really are something special in there design. Sadly Festool no longer has the C12 only the mini and C15. Wish Mafell would have come up with something outside the box.
Also the Centro Tec system with festool is rather nice (snappy makes adaptable stuff for less). I have found standard sizes fit as well.

It's called PowerX3 and It's awesome! It have a 1/2" drive and you can put bits in but you can't adapt a chuck (or did anyone know a chuck that fitts on a 1/2" ratchet? ) Great to hear the PowerX3 is a worthwhile accessory! Regarding the 1/2" square/ 1/4" hex end, I'm not sure about 3-jaw chucks but I do have a Milwaukee 1/2" square -to- 7/16" Quick Hex that would work with hole saws and other large bits. I'm out of town this week, when I return home I'll track down some pics and links.

I wonder if Mafell will now further develop on the Metabo battery platform or not. Maybe some of the corded tools will soon be offered in a cordless variant?
We know the Metabo drills are really powerful and I'm sure they thoroughly tested them for construction quality and durability, otherwise I don't see Mafell licensing them.
But still, I can't understand why Metabo would design their drills with such thick handles. These drills feel like they came from way up north, from a Scandinavian people of giants. Definitely a big man's tool.

I'm pretty sure mafell are developing other cordless tools as well. As we all know I have the cordless kss400. I sent mafell an email as to how useful the saw has being and how it basically gets used everyday and that I'd being doing finishing and the 300 in cordless version would be handy. Here is the email I got back Dear Aaron, Thanks a lot for this positive response. We will keep you in mind and inform you as soon a the KSS 300 will be available as a cordless version. Have a nice weekend. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Kindest regards,

Two pictures of my PowerX3 you can use it also with the corded drills Metabo BE75 (up to 225Nm!) and BE1300 Here are a few photos of the Milwaukee adapter that allows you to adapt from a 1/2" Square drive to 7/16" Hex drive. This adapter is intended for adapting 1/2" impact wrenches, so I'm sure it would hold up to nearly any abuse you can throw at it. The 7/16" Hex is a reasonably common form factor for larger ship auger bits, spur bits, and some hole saw arbors, which would lend a little more versatility to this attachment. Milwaukee 48-66-0061 Also, I believe that there used to be a 15 volt Panasonic combo drill that doubled as a 1/2" square drive impact wrench and drill, so if you dig you might be able to find a replacement chuck for that unit that adapts a 1/2" Square drive to a 1/2" 3-jaw keyless chuck.

Thank you for the pictures. I will looking for the Adapter from Milwaukee, Panasonic isn't very common in Germany, so I think that I can't get spareparts for that drill.

Is this the English speaking Metabo mecca? I have the BS 18 LTX BL, been considering their PowerX3, but for heavy driving, I think I'd rather grab an impact? For bigger drilling, maybe the PowerX3, though people have been using impacts w/ big ship augers nowadays, would it be that big of a leap to use it on hole saws? I have the SSW18 LTX 400 BL for automotive work (and because I'm a tool junkie), and I think it'd be my go-to for heavy driving duties. Should be easier to handle, and less chance of rounding off fasteners. The only thing I'd see myself needing the PowerX3 for is mixing concrete/cement, but I'd almost feel bad using it for that. I have the KSA, ASE, and the BSA worklight as well. And eventually I want to swap out my CT26 for a ASR 35 ACP. I wish they imported the Powermaxx stuff, it would replace my Milwaukee 12v stuff in the future. Not that the Milwaukee stuff isn't good, it's pretty powerful, but not as nice to use for sure. Great to hear that the Centrotec chucks work with the Metabos!! Someone said earlier on the FOG and said the Centrotec chuck is not compatible? Now I have to go try for myself.

But still, I can't understand why Metabo would design their drills with such thick handles. These drills feel like they came from way up north, from a Scandinavian people of giants. Definitely a big man's tool. I have pretty small hands. 8" circumference around my knuckles, small in most ski/motorcycle/latex/nitrile gloves. The drills are fine in my opinion, I don't find them uncomfortable to use, but maybe that's new since both are rather new tools. The circular saw and reciprocating saw have harder-to-reach trigger locks, but once you get going, it's not really a big deal.
