Awesome find Heiko! I've been wondering when they'd bring drills. I'm sad they went with Metabo though. Metabo's are really chunky. The handle on those drills is way too thick for my small hands Metabo drills themselves are very powerful and I can see how Mafell would turn to them for timber framing purposes.

It's been a long time since I worked with a metabo drill. I hope they've improved. Will be interested in what amps it's running with as well as all of the usual drill specs. As far as I know, Milwaukee, metabo, bosch, and fein are all releasing or have released drills with interchangeable chucks. I love the right angle feature on my festool, I know bosch has a new drill that offers this chuck head. I wonder who else. Looks like a drill head to head comparison is in order.

Festool had the advantage with brushless motors and the chuck heads. My biggest pet peeve with them is centrotec. It just means you have to buy their bits to use that system.

You can see the handle of the 10v is really chunky.
video of the Metabo BS 18 LTX. Drills will likely be identical with the exception maybe of different speeds.

Interesting. Don't know if I like vibration sensors for the light, that seems silly. Repositioning of the right angle chuck seems smoother than festool. Like the 5.2 amp battery.

I haven't used the metabo drills. I'm sure there was a review of them a while back. If I remember correctly the only downside was the length of time to charge. It might have improved since then

I like 4 amp batteries for the 10. Don't like the chunky handle. Personally I love the ergonomics of my cxs

I'm looking forward to the press release to get the details on these.

It will be interesting to see what real world users say. I do like the electronics of the Festool a lot - beeps instead of grinding. But, I am glad to see other interchangeable heads coming out.

To date, I've been using a C15 for finish work, and Makita LXT Impact driver and a corded Hilti drill for rougher carpentry. I like the Festool chuck system, and for certain applications the Centrotec chuck is great, but for framing or unique bits it's a PITA. This is interesting about Mafell licensing the Metabo drills, as I have been looking at transitioning my cordless platforms to Metabo. Great to hear that the Centrotec chucks work with the Metabos!! Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Triple reduction adapter, part # 627253000. Page 46 in the Metabo US catalog: www.metabo.us/fileadmin/metabo/_countries/us__com_/pdf/Catalog_2014/2013-2014_Catalog.pdfYou see it throughout this video: While not for everyone, this would be very handy for me when I want to drill 4"+ holes but don't want to haul out my corded drills.

It's called PowerX3 and It's awesome! It have a 1/2" drive and you can put bits in but you can't adapt a chuck (or did anyone know a chuck that fitts on a 1/2" ratchet? )
