Welcome. Not sure how long they will last but if it's the stock one I would recommend getting a lower tooth blade for that kind of stuff and saving the finer one for cuts that matter.

Welcome aboard Matt. Can't help with your question regarding blade life of the MT55, don't have one. Would like to see some pics of your Paulk workbench.

Welcome aboard glad you're enjoying using your mt55. If the blade is cutting fine keep using if not sharpen. Cheers. Sage advice! It's the first blade I've had that's been worth sharpening. I'll try the spare tomorrow and compare the two.

Good point - I bought a 24 tooth blade with the saw, thinking I'd use it just for rough cutting solid wood (I've got a couple of guitar builds planned). I might swap it in tomorrow until I finish fitting the workshop.

... Must have done a good few hundred metres mainly through ply and OSB, though - love it! How long should I expect the blade to last through wood like that? ... I got a few blades. The OEM one is still on there, it seems to last a while.

Welcome Matt, I don't use my mt55 a great deal. But when I have, its rarely been used on solid wood, usually chipboard, melamine, MDF. Have cut down a lot of doors, some have been oak veneer with solid oak core. I have even trimmed down a handful of doors, all four edges on solid pine. Still using the same blade that was on the 55 when I got it.

I used it some Kapur today 55-mm thick. It was mongrel stuff and required cut on the other side to complete it. The saw was loaded up straining,
The stock looked like something for an aeroporto. (Assuming someone know what a propellor is in the age of jets).
I impressed myself with the hand planes that I sharped with the T7 a couple of weeks ago, About 2 hours of worked them over, and then I felt truly FUBARed. But the gate is 20% done... Started at 3PM and on the sofa at 6 just in time to watch the news. Watching "No Country for Old Men" now to cheer myself up.
Maybe I should have put the rip blade on? I got the saw because the blade change is fast...

Cheers, guys. Even with my 24T, doing a 45 degree cut through 3/4" ply it's sounding laboured. Perhaps blade speed could be adjusted, I've not touched that - it's at 5. Anyway, probably enough of a departure from Introductions thread. The track connector and the blade change on this system are both real plusses! Hello folks! my name is Jim just purchased a mt55,f160,f110,connector and screw clamps from timberwolftools. I ended up selling my ts55 and tracks. Just waiting on my guide rails to come in. I'm excited to use this saw with the rail setup from reading all the positive info I received reading the posts on this forum the last couple of months. I'm hoping this saw last for a very, very long time for the price I had to pay. I'm not going to lie it was hard to swallow the cost, I think roughly 1300.00. I do a lot of residential remodeling and side projects for clients that don't have the skills to build on there own. I mostly use plywood, melamine and pre finished plywood, can't wait to start making some projects with this setup?

Hi James, I've had mine for awhile and very happy with it. So far everything has been splinter free, even the oak veneer doors i'm fitting at the moment. It doesn't get as much use as my kss 300 though. Not sure about U.S prices but it is well worth the money.

Hi Jim, Welcome to the MUF. Congrats on your new tools, you're gunna love the Mafell rails. Whatever you do, don't look at any of the Erika vids. Don't even think about the KSS 300 & 400 saws or the P1CC jigsaw. Nope, don't do it. John

I got the MT55 and the KSS400 with same rails. It has almost replaced the chop saw. Newer versions with larger capacity and cordless. Save the MT55 for the high cost sheet goods.
