Glad to have you join. In relation to cancel or laser cutting. In my field it seems we're looking towards it too much at times. I was waiting on plexiglass components for a week and a half (ordered by the art department) where I could have made them in an hour. Also, having the ability to "sketch build" a prototype is a definite advantage. Let us know how we can help!

Hello, I'm Dan - I joined a few months ago after buying my mt55 (amazing saw, of course you all know) and have already had some good advice on extractors from the forum. Funny, I was just reading this introductions section for the first time and saw that you're a film carpenter, Matt (Ghostfist). I'm a prop maker mainly doing tv and museum display work. As you know it's a broad cathedral. I do sculpting, fibreglassing and so on but also a lot of joinery on the builds we do. Having borrowed lots of other peoples' fes saws over the years when I came to buy my own I found mafell and through research suspected it would edge it in quality. I don't have loyalty to any particular brands but just try and get something for each job that will last and perform well, and this has been the best buy in years. Although it's not likely I'll be investing in too many other Mafell tools, this alone has weirdly made me a slight enthusiast. It's good to peruse forums like this also to see people's views on other tools (my second favourite piece of kit is the Senco Fusion nailer!) so thanks very much, it makes for interesting reading and discussion

Hi, I just realized there is a introduction thread. So better late than never I guess I'm Martin. A car mechanic and electrical engeneer. For the living I'm testing switchgear and take care about the measuring equipment. There is a lot working at the PC involved so in the free time I like to do something with my hands. The lag of oprtunities to work on cars leaves room for the woodworking hobby. It all started as my dad was building a pair of speakers when I was a kid. So I like to build cabinets for speakers and since I have some proper tools I started building furniture. But here I'm at the very beginning. Thank's for the MUF Cheers Martin

Hi All..... long time festool user on the brink of getting the mafell plunge saw. Hopefully im not falling for salesman speil at all the shows I go to but it does seem a better saw than the ts55r. The rails look better too.
Not new to Mafell I had an LNF20 years ago until I got a domino.
Anyway I'll have a nose round.

Hi all I'm Jake.
I thought it might be time to boost the Australian contingent after lurking here for some time.
Not too long ago I bought an MT-55 from Elektrowerkzeuge / Bort & Herckert in Germany (online) mainly due of the advice on this forum. I supplemented the saw with locally purchased Bosch tracks and clamps.
I can't lay claim to any great skill in carpentry but I appreciate good tools and engineering and this saw beats the crap out of my old circ saw (which is now on firewood duty).
I haven't really tested it out fully yet. So far its trimmed a deck, cut up ply sheets to refurbish a workbench top, and is currently doing duty cutting yellow-tongue flooring panels to put floor in my parents roofspace. It is clearly made for large surface / panel work.
However, I'm not what you would call a brand loyalist, and it is good to find a forum where both pros and cons are discussed (along with wares from other brands), without too much fear or favour. Long may this atmosphere continue.
Cheers.
