This year my work has been divided between older heavy framing/structural repair and higher-end wardrobes with less middle ground. Tool wise, the middle area is the easiest to cover but when I'm doing specialized work, I want that tool/body connection to be as seamless as possible. I think drill manufactures have done a better job of coupling power and finesse over the last decade and now they're taking bigger leaps, i.e., Metabo's higher torque with pulse function and the lighter 10.8 v range with attachments.
With that, how are you finding the lighter 10.8 drills, power and finesse versus say the 12v bosch units or festool Cxs?

erik, you're from the US, right? I couldn't find an available 120v charger anywhere. You could use an adapter for 220v if you have it around or use a transformer, but not too convenient.

Talked to David at Timberwolf tools yesterday about this drill , he had reservations for supporting this drill in the USA .Wait and see he says .
Like you Erik the need for a very small drill would be handy for delicate task , have the muscle drills covered corded and cordless .

Yes, I'm from the US but when the Amazon uk, 4 for 3 deal was announced I checked the site is search for a 110v system. I didn't see an explicitly stated voltage and the price exceeded the bosch combo, even with the discount, so I was just trying to justify spending more time investigating if it was worth it. I have the bosch combo already but I don't have a CXS and I thinking about adding it or grabbing a Metabo set. I was also thinking about the PDC, for the other side of the spectrum, to pick up where the t18 falls short.

Well got myself the little 10.8 powermax as the hilti 14v I had for years charger finally went. On first impression the new cordless for its size packs a mighty punch and will easily cover 90% tasks I use a cordless drill for likes of putting screws in which are mostly 2 inches and it can easily put in 6x150 and not break a sweat. Drilling pilot holes it's not very often I have to drill out for locks as they are already done on the spec it has a max of 22timber yet I guess however ever lager diameter could be drilled if required. Need to test it out. Love the angle attachment great for the tight awkward spots. It's only very occasionally I believe I will need a more powerful drill and will look into that at a later date. The little drill is powerful and compact, light and can get in to the tight spots plus it doesn't make the dreaded impact noise which does my head in

Wait, is the drill electronic clutch?
I went w/ the Bosch PS22 (known as the GSR 10.8v-EC HX overseas) because the clutch, while still mechanical, is dead silent. Really a treat to use for cabinet assembly.
Only thing I wish for is the interchangeable heads like the Powermaxx. Oh, and a one-handed bit insertion/release.

Sounds good I be interested to see how much you get out of the batteries as how many screws it will do or will you end up having to change batteries often in a day

As far as I can tell the clutch is mechanical or at least I think it is. Makes the mechanical ratcheting noise. It ain't loud by any means thier is meant to be beeps if overloaded I think. Not sure how long the batteries last will find out in due course. I did notice the 4amp battery is assembled in Vietnam and the 2 amp battery is assembled in Hungary

That could be for the older model powermaxx. I believe 4amp is the biggest battery you can get for it.
