I read in the comments below this video that Mafell manufactured this plunge saw for Bosch. They do look very similar apart from some stuff like two knobs to tilt the machine or a different way to remove the blade. Can anyone can confirm this? The rails are also identical which is another indicator. The engine is also 1400 Watt, the No-load speed is the same as is the weight 4,7 kg, but there are more similarities shown when you watch the video.
In the "www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFcBOT2UTfU" test it ended 3rd after Festool but given that it is at least partial Mafell you'd expect it to be more on par with Mafell and end before Festool.

From what I have being told bosch bought the design rights to make the saw then they have the parts made in China then shipped back to Germany where the parts are assembled it uses plastic gears instead of metal which are used in the mafell the only thing that mafell manufacturers for bosch is the rails

Thanks for the update, I find that worrying to say the least. I'm not too fond on chinese made components, not that all are bad far from it, I have some good stuff made in China like my laptop and my thermos LOL. The Chinese make wonderful products but it often lacks in the quality department. I was already thinking I found a cheap alternative for the Mafell saw but I guess the devil is in the details

The Bosch saw is made by Mafell in Germany. The sticker on the saw says "Made in Germany"

I think "made" is a subjective term for some companies and countries.

Well in that case it should be assembled in Germany

At the moment good can be made in several different counties and the assembled in 1 country so 90% can be made out of that country it says it's made in. The EU is wanting to change the rules on this. At the end of the day we live in a global world

Hi, Heiko Rech a well known german blogger (and professional carpenter) visited the Mafell Factory at Oberndorf/germany a few weeks ago. holzwerkerblog.de/2013/10/26/werksbesuch-bei-mafell/Mafell says that they are producing 85% in Oberndorf/germany (not only assembling). 15% of the Parts are bought-in parts and they try to get this parts in germany whenever possible. There are certainly Parts from Asia that can't be bought here in Europe such as transistors etc. Hope that helps. Cant say if the whole Bosch saw which is produced by Mafell has the same vertical range of manufacture as the Mafell tools.

Those Rapid Plunge cuts at full depth with the MT55 in solid timber were really cool. Never seen that done before.

I just received an email from Bosch where I asked about their saw and they claim to produce all their machines themselves. So maybe they only bought the rights to produce their version of the saw as was pointed out higher up in the thread although they didn't mention that in the email.

LOL, maybe they put the sticker on it, maybe...
