One of my work mate said that he heard that a remake of "It" may be happening... I said, "Yeah a fellow is doing the set"... Both work mates looked at me wide eyed...

Oh and I worked on the elevator through the center of the Earth in total recall. Good movies or not is fun to make this stuff. Awesome.

And there are probably demanding clients, no two jobs the same, time and budgetary constraints... The truth(es) may depend on the perspective?

Sorry for the late reply, kids, but the ghost is busy on his latest movie (nothing to get excited about). How did I get into film? Dumb luck I suppose. I've always thought of film as the last bastion of the unemployable. People too weird to work human jobs. To be a successful carpenter you have to think on your feet, think for the camera, and not over think things. Simple is best and that still goes for complicated work. You have to do the quality of a good furniture/cabinet maker with the cheapest materials possible (though sometimes it's really pricey stuff) and be as fast as a stick framer though clean and tidy. Also, be modest.

I'd like to hear you expand on the 'modesty' part, if it's also a learned coping skill for the personalities involved in the industry.

I say that in order to be good at what you do in film, you should be modest. It seems to be a catching disease in the industry to have a massive ego. Most people who work in film are not fit for much else outside of film, yet they still think they're gods. It only makes people difficult to work with. I'd rather work with easy going modest people.
