Hi, I'm looking for informations about a saw I've just bought. It's an old Erika from 1986 but there was no operator manual with it. I was wondering if someone here could give me some inputs about it. Here are some pics of the saw, it needs a little bit of clean up but it seems in good shape for few more cuts (hopefully), I'd love some advice on how to clean up the table top too. Thanks a lot for any advices

Where are you at? The power cord looks like it has a pommy end on it.
There is an alloy (Aluminum) product in the UK called POR which is a corrosion inhibitor/primer. I would either do nothing or maybe paint it with a slick finish... A slider may not require a slick finish.
Mafell AG may be able to get a manual.
How much different is it from todays?

Where are you at? The power cord looks like it has a pommy end on it. I'm french, the power cord works for me here in FranceThere is an alloy (Aluminum) product in the UK called POR which is a corrosion inhibitor/primer. I would either do nothing or maybe paint it with a slick finish... A slider may not require a slick finish. I'll see if i can find POR, I'd like to clean the surface a bit for cosmetic reason :-)Mafell AG may be able to get a manual. You think I can write to them with the product number? cos I can't get the exact model name (nothing written except Erika)How much different is it from todays? Can't really say cos I've never seen a new one but from what I've read on the net it seems quite the same saw : I'm missing the cutter behind the blade and the top. Under the table is a vacuum pipe, the sliding mechanism is a bit hard but need oil probably. I also got another rail with angle selector. I'll try to make some photos today and post them.

I have only anodised titanium and not aluminum, but a coloured anodise could look nice.
Even better would be with swirls on it.

Hello, I've done some cleaning, the table looks better now here are some pics : Still I'm looking for the riving knife, does anyone can provide informations about it or a sketch with dimension so I can make one? I'm also wondering the use of those squares holes you can see around the blade, is it made to attach something? Thanks for your advices

Since I get no answer from Mafell (shame really ) I'd like to make my own riving knife. Is it possible for somebody who owns an Erika to make a picture of its riving knife and provide the dimension of it ? Even if it's a new model it'll help me to make a custom one for mine... I've search the web and couldn't find any parts store for mafell with clear pictures of riving knife ! Thanks by advance for your help

buchn The France Mafell service picture older Erika . We have no idea which model of Erika saw you have , the service catalog has specific model numbers and tool serial numbers . Any current "modern" Erika saws are not easy to just take a picture of the riving knife . If possible, take the saw to a Mafell dealer or repair center of Mafell tools in your country . Might luck out with parts and manual .

Hi Joe, Thanks for the link, it seems close to my Erika but not exactly the same unfortunately... I wrote to mafell with the picture of the identification plate below and I think it would be quite easy for them to direct me to the correct model, this is why I'm a bit upset :-) Anyway, I will manage to find a solution as I don't want to use my saw too much without a crucial security part... I just realized that Erika's owner are not too many or at least not too internet fan cos there's not a lot of website mentioning how to customize this saw. I bet Erika's owners are too busy making good use of there machine :-) which is fine! Thanks for your help anyway, holmz i'd love to call them in germany, but I have to say I don't speak german and I think without the picture I'll have trouble to get an answer for this model ;-)

Your better off finding another owner of the same model to get any info. Talk with some dealers in your area and see if they know anyone.
Theres a few guys in the states that have those older models. I dont know them personally or I would forward there information.
