In my mind, it's the inherent exclusivity of a bona fide high-quality product that makes a forum dedicated to said high-quality product a cut above the rest. If you wish to share years of experience with hobbyists and basement-based forum dwellers who wouldn't really know the difference between Mafell and Black & Decker then, by all means, there are plenty of forums where you can spend your valuable time.
If, on the other hand, you wish to spend your time corresponding with professionals who actually know the value of a well-engineered tool, then participating in a forum such as the Mafell User's Forum (MUF) is a great way to invest your time.
Furthermore, I don't find anything about the MUF to be "clunky" or disorganized and, even more importantly, I haven't read any posts that come from lonely individuals who seem to like nothing more than wasting everyone's time ... and, who knows, if the MUF were the perfectly-structured "juggernaut" envisioned by some, it would probably evolve into a medium where folks are afraid to speak/write openly out of fear of offending a cooperate sponsor or a forum staff member. I've spent time participating in such forums and, quite frankly, I've got better things to do with my limited time on the planet.
The Mafell brand may not be as "big" as some of the other household names, but perhaps that's the very thing that distinguishes Mafell from the box store brand tools that I keep at the home for my wife to use around the house.

The Mafell Users Forum is slowly but surely starting to grow and I just wanted to let you know that we're already actively working behind the scenes on some changes/improvements. But it's going to take some time before any of that is ready, tested and approved for public use. It's a lot of work and it happens in our spare time, so... yeah, you all know how that works...
For now the forums are good enough and operate fine. With some time and patience I'm sure the MUF will become an even better resource of centralized information for all things Mafell and beyond.

This forum is our only source of info and while there is not a treasure trove of information here yet it will be. I am moving in slowly away from Festool except for routers an sanders and into Mafell. I will be posting more too usage tips as my experience with the inner workings of the Tracksaw, jigsaw, and Doweller increase. Lots of nuanced differences/advantages. Hopefully we can stay on task here without all of the off topic and just plain stupid threads (like what Festool did you buy today, newbie looking to invest in Festool, green lemonade references, and the tool collectors (hoarders) etc). What started off useful has morphed into almost useless with the exception of being able to ask technical questions to Festool and get direct answers from the company.
I must admit while at JLC Live 2 years ago I went to the Festool Connect event the day before the start of JLC and was mortified by the cult-like vibe I got. Far more fans than tradesmen/craftsmen. The most disturbing part was watching 40 and 50 year old men get gaga eyes over Kevin O'Conner and then stand in line like school girls to get an autographed book.
I am looking forward to this group growing, while staying useful, and seeing it's knowledge base grow with everyone's help.

Festool have some very high quality products and have truly innovated in some areas. Again, without the fog, this site wouldn't exist, pure and simple. I don't want to really get into threads moaning about the fog all the time, there have been some absolutely phenomenal posts there throughout the years. It seems they have developed a fanboy following but let's use that as a reminder to question the usefulness of our tools and evaluate their use in our work flow without bias. You are the craftsmen, you choose your weapons as they suit your needs on the battlefield. Not because they come with stickers. When a mafell tool does not meet your standards we want to hear about it. we will not sweep criticism under the rug for the sake of sales. This site is for woodworkers of all types to share information, not to sell mafell or any other tools.

I did try them at Ligna and I was really impressed at how it sucked up the dust from the surface was absolutely dust free I was impressed. The only problem is I now want one. Or at least I think I do

I've been more than satisfied with Festool sanders and given that I can't see or tryout a Mafell sander it would be unlikely I would give them consideration unless I had a failure. Festool seems to have a lock on sanders and routers in terms of quality performance and price. The 2200 is the best router I have ever used and I've been through plenty of crappy to decent ones. I am also happy with their ETS sanders and the Rotex. Does seem like they have way to many options offered. I know many are specialty models, but even so they offer a lot I them.

I think Homlz' post was intended to be sarcastic.

I would love to try the UVA 155 e - I think that a 1/2 sheet is the most important sander a woodworker/cabinet maker should have. This one looks ultra smooth.

[Sarcastic questions] Then how come the majority says that a Festool RO90 is the most important sander followed by the ETS125 or the RO123? Why are you not with the heard? [/Sarcastic questions] [Rhetorical questions] And how come I only have the EVA 115e and a used DX90 corner sander? And why do I wonder... 'why I would need a third sander unless it was a belt sander?' And why do I wonder... 'why I need a belt sander if I have a plane?' And why do I wonder... 'why I do not use scrapers?' [/Rhetorical questions]
