This talk of Erika saw replacing a miter saw.......yes!!! I have never had this much precision delivered to a carbide blade on a portable carpentry machine . Expensive no doubt , worth it for a much safer way to cut various building materials . With a good selection of blades for the saw , exceptional cut in melamine , prefinished trim , raw wood and plywood .

Very nice information, Joe! I'll certainly keep it in mind as I consider Mafell carpentry tools (as opposed to TF tools).

Well, I've been planning on getting an Erika 85 for some time now. And even though I had some delays I finally managed to get an order in for an Erika 85. Should have it by Monday. Hopefully delivered with all the parts intact.

Congrats.... Look forward to your review. If you could share your thoughts on safety. I feel that is an overlooked aspect of the Erika.

Congrats.... Look forward to your review. If you could share your thoughts on safety. I feel that is an overlooked aspect of the Erika. Does the saw contribute to safety one way or the other? I can see a sawstop being a bit idiot proof, but the rest seem more dependant upon the operator??

Yeah the Bosch Reaxx and SawStop systems are obviously offer the best safety measures. I do believe in the pull-function the Erika's offer though. It's the primary reason I bought it. I think it makes operations on small to tiny workpieces a lot safer and easier than pushing the piece through the blade.

Yeah the Bosch Reaxx and SawStop systems are obviously offer the best safety measures. Assuming "the best" is not the operator. Fully agree (or percieve) that pulling the saw, seems more straight forward than pushing the wood through.

Since have my accident if I'm using a chopsaw to cut small pieces I actually feel unsafe as I'm not 100% sure the exact area the blade will enter the material especially if doing beval cuts as the head beval to the left and also being right handed I also use my left hand to hold material and hitting my left hand again is certainly something I don't intend to do again. Where with the erika l know where the blade is going to enter the material and also when bevaling the saw blade bevals right ,away from my left hand. Ultimately everyone is responsible for thier own saftey weather the saw does or does not have saw stop technology on it. It is also possible to add things like toggle clamps to the fence for the extra small pieces of material
