I am aware of those accusations. Not sure how valid they are but its worth noting. I'm not interested in there product personally but looks mean nothing to me. Rose wood, brass, ebony....if it doesn't improve the function I don't pay extra for it.
Any closer on your choice? I'm guessing you are leaning towards Blue Spruce.

Yeah, it's hard to comment when you don't know the personal circumstances. But we are talking about a customers hard earned, so people get upset, which is understandable. And, yes, just ordered a 25, 32, and 50mm from Blue Spruce this morning. Will pick up a couple more later on, when funds allow. Will post some pics when they arrive, if anyone's interested.

Nice! Would love to hear your thoughts after you've used them some.

My first set in 1978 were buck bros still have some of them use them for abuseive conditions. Right away I wanted better I got the cheapest Japanese chisels set of nine still use those on site keep them in my to go kit. 1980 I bought a set of boxwood handle Japanese with long shanks these stay in the shop. At the flea market 23 years ago for $30 I found six mismatch Japanese chisels I use these to scrap glue an general bench clean up. I started with Japanese wet stones for the first 20 or so years then I got tired of regularly flatting my stones they are so soft but cut great. When I switched I started with lapping plate and 5 micron paste still use this sometimes . Mostly diamond plates 3 grits dry they work fast always flat. I forget when I got a slow speed grinder I think 20yrs or so this is a game changer you can grind for longer no blue corners. I think any additions to my set up would be a Tormex for the leather strop and paste. My high school shop teacher trained me to grind properly I think he saw that I had some talent . He had me keep all the plane an chisels tuned up.

Hard to find good deals at flea markets any more. Even harder at Antique stores. I get some good deals off craigslist more times then not.

I'm a cheap shopper. I don't like paying much and it takes a lot of time to find a deal that pleases me. Most guys aren't as picky and part of the problem is I don't like spending too much time restoring. Good luck at the sale!

Ya I've never been to one so I thought I'd check it out. This is in Mennonite country so might be some interesting stuff. Nice bunch of axes that look good if for nothing more than display if they go at the right price.

I thought the packaging was funny looking. I would expect a little christmas nativity set or something easter related to come in that hay;)

Interesting mallet, are you happy with it? I have a Blue Spruce, great for dovetailing, not enough heft for mortising.

John Yeah, really happy with it John - although I haven't used it on wooden handled chisels yet. I've never found it lacking in power, and it's very comfortable in hand. If you get one and don't like it for striking chisels, they're also excellent for general assembly tasks etc.
