Hey guys,
Remember my previous thread about my Erika 85 that may have killed me but that riveting guard saved me from flying out with some sparkies.
I took it out for maintenance time. Now I can't put it back. Any idea why? How do I fix it?

Can you post photos of what you're trying to do?

Actually, I used WD-40 to spray on the metal part of the riveting guard BUT there is another problem...it's the button thing when pressing and holding to release the riveting guard (under Erika 85, you know there is a metal button).....it won't lock that guard properly. Any solution to that?

I'm a bit lost with what you are saying - by riveting guard are you talking about the riving knife and blade guard? Also, the metal button?.. there is one to block the spindle to change blades, do you mean that one?

That is correct. I am sorry about how to say the right words because I had no idea but you got it!
When I pressed the metal button to let the riving knife or blade guard in or even out but it won't lock because I can pull and push it in easily and it won't just lock that guard. I'd rather need it to protect myself. I have to keep checking to make sure the saw is fixed properly, once it's checked, then I have to turn it on to use it without that blade guard.

You might have a newer Erika than me, mine is from 2018 I think. The riving knife can be lifted and lowered, put there is no button, it just pulls up or down (it doesn't want to stay up on mine, it just starts falling down with the vibration when I turn the saw on).
For the blade guard, sometimes I need to take this off, like for a non-through cut, but I leave it on as much as possible.

aas: The newer Erikas have a removable riving knife. Sure wish mine had that feature.
dpan: I have no idea. Like aas, my Erika doesn’t do that. If you purchased the saw new, I’d suggest contacting the vendor.

Thanks guys.
You know the blade guard or riveting guard has two holes which meant to lock it while in use (eg cutting, etc). It was fine before and now it won't lock because of that incident which may hurt me if i didn't put that blade guard in it, that is causing some sparks - my fault for not checking the saw properly.
Bought Erika 85 last year, so it must be newer version than you. I set my sight on ruwi premium package which is much better than buying extension or sliding tray when we have sliding saw lol.
i have contacted the vendor just a moment ago.

You have to use an image hosting site like vgy.me - I use this one and it works well here.

So the metal button you press is the shiny chrome one?.. what does the red plastic bit do?
I don't think I can help much as I don't have this on mine. Have you tried asking Mafell?.. I always find them really helpful Otherwise, is your dealer near to you?

I have asked Mafell for help, still waiting for some answers. I am located in Australia. bought Erika 85 from UK. If I buy it locally, it will be like 10K or more. So I saved 5.5K including custom tax. It was not the machine's fault, just mine....I think I will unscrew those "square" screw and see find out why that button is not locking into that hole of the blade guard.
