I got to see one of these up close yesterday at the d&m toolshow. I went thinking I'd have a look but I've got a domino so why would I want one. Anyway I'm now working out how much I could get for my domino and really thinking of getting one. I think it would suit my work much better, mainly building carcases. It can also be used to drill the shelf pin holes. They also had a few of the Hafele ixconnect knock down fittings there. A fraction of the cost of the new festool ones and more simple to fit. At the show they were selling for £799 but no one else is selling them yet so the price might change. Did the Hafele ixcnnectors change your mind about getting one?

Dowels are easier and cheaper to buy than dominos. Being able to drill shelf pin holes without all the faff and expense of the LR32 system. The 40mm depth and 3mm to 12mm cutters. The build quality is really good. Also as I say I really think it suits building carcases much better. Not just the Hafele fittings it would easily work with many knock down fittings Etc etc

Of course these are not the 8/60's but I wonder if a thin coat of wood glue would help the 8/25's seat easier/tighter ?

There's a bit in the video where Jens shows some knockdown fixings for the doweller :

I did cringe a bit! Lol. (Jokes) you should have made him try those fixings! He's a nice guy and would have done it. Awsome machine BTW.

I've been trying to find the metal connectors Jens had, I've found the ixconnect ones in Hafele. Great machine I just need to wait for the 110v version and get the money from somewhere.

Great looking tool. What's the damage for one in 240v?

Great looking tool. What's the damage for one in 240v? At the show the full set was £799 but it's £875 on the D&m website

Aw men... This thing looks a bit "unusual" at first. Having watched all available videos on the mafell website, I'm excited. for those who has a DD40P, would you "upgrade" to a DDF40? There are quite a few things I consider an improvement yet I do not see the DDF40 as an upgrade to the DD40P. Unless one does not need dowels bigger than 12 mm. I think the DDF40 is now a more direct competitor to the small Domino. With the flat base and some accesories it seems to handly much like the small Domino. Also because it is now easy possible to joint small rails. Martin

I am surprised why it took so long for Mafell to see the advantages of having a flat base. I could trace a Mafell DD40P video back to 2013. It took them 5 years to have a new model? Even the cheapest Ryobi has new products or models every year.

Even the cheapest Ryobi has new products or models every year. I heard they had some supplier issues with early prototypes.

IMO I'm not a fan of yearly updates. With competitive brands it seems more marketing than actual improvement. As for the flat base, there are some applications where the dd40 style base is advantageous
