I see time as money. More so now that I've decided to go it alone without a helper. So when I get the planex I'll try an adapter, if it doesn't work I'll buy the hose. Generally you can find planex hoses slightly used for a decent price.
I also see that I need a bigger hose for my router setup so the planex hose may kill two birds with one stone.
Also, I use the mirka handy sander ALOT and I just ordered a mirka roundy from across the pond. I completely redid a 16x14 sunroom and today all I had to do was vacuum up misc stuff and cleanup was done. Not spending time cleaning any drywall dust paid for the dust deputy and attix on its first job.
Will.

Industrialvacs.com is where I get all my nilfisk stuff. Customer service is second to none. You deal directly with the owner of the company. He's answered/fixed an issue at 10pm for me.

I'm redoing my house. Well, I'm trying too, keep getting covered up with work. But I've got 3 bedrooms a dining room, kitchen, bath and all the ceilings .
I've also gotten fed up with trying to find a decent drywaller who gives a damn about his work so I've Been doing all my own drywall on jobs.
I've used a porter cable version of a sander, but never a planex.

The Mirka 5"/6" sander is like the Festool's model??, but uses the Mirka screens and does good on horizontal dry wall and the vacuum sucks it all up good as the screens let the dust through. Of course a ladder or scaffold would be needed, but I even had the Mrs using the sander as it is so controllable.
The PlaneX seems like a lot of sander for just a single weekend's worth of work. It might cut the work down from 2 days to 1 day... but for me it would probably take me a few days just to learn how to control it. And if it needs its own special vacuum, then there is also that...
But many people rave about the PlaneX, so maybe it is a good idea.

Bought the Makita branded Nilfisk today. Very solid unit. The Nilfisk is very hard to find down here, and when you do it costs $700 more than the Makita. Comes with the systainer plates, steel vac tubes and handle, really nice 32mm AS hose, couple of bags. Love the on board storage options. Will set it up today and give it a work out.

Does the Planex sell with the hose over there or are you happy forking out the money for it? I know for sure the planex hose will connect fine to the Nilfisk extractor but they want half of what the Attix sells for over here just for the bloody hose... theres no way I am going down that path Festool can suck it. What I was hoping to find out is if theres a way to connect the planex to the Attix hose via something a bit more professional looking than duct tape? What I should do is take the planex to a store and find out for myself I guess. Might be the saturday morning mission... will let you know how it goes if you are interested. I understand the Milwaukee 'nilfisk' ships with 36mm hose I'll look into that one as well cheers I've used the Nilfisk with my Planex and have been happy with the results. I'm pretty sure I used the following adapter to connect to the Planex: www.nilfisk.com/en/products/Pages/product.aspx?pid=29457It's not locking like the Planex hose, but I remember it being a nice snug fit. I think that is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks! Funny that Nilfisk didn't bother to mention it when I called specifically to ask them about an adaptor just like it... How did you manage to find it!?

I heard they can be a bit difficult for the new user. There is a learning curve for sure but even on day one it will beat the crap out of hand sanding. Make sure you get the soft interface pad with it though otherwise it will chew up your work a bit... Highly likely its because I've already had plenty of time behind the older long reach Planex but I found the newer model (called planex easy or something?) to be easier to operate. Its also cheaper. downside is its not extendable but really being able to effectively sand heights where you have more than 1 extension in the long reach planex really takes time to get the hang of (and its not enjoyable time either...)

Cruised over to handyman’s Instagram page to catch up and saw his post for Acme Tools Flex VCE33 (Nilfisk rebrand) vacuum deal, VCE33/$299 - VCE44/$399. From what I understand Flex has changed the hue of its color a bit for N.A. only. But I’m unsure if it’s the Ron Burgundy shown on Acme’s site or just a slightly grey’er red shown in the N.A. demo unit photo (?) Supposedly the demo unit is from same batch Acme received. The reason for the blow out price they say is inventory control - cost per sq.ft. of warehouse space. They would rather move them out at cost or below and make container room than pay for more space. Chervon Group owns Flex (Skil/Skillsaw/EGO/etc.) and is just looking at the numbers here. There's a bluetooth version on the horizon but they say it's not the reason for the sale. Acme bought out the entire inventory intended for N.A. so they are able to offer this deal. Though I'm not sure if "limited time" price is until this whole inventory is sold or just for a set time. Flex tech support says vacs are 100% Nilfisk no changes. Hose is Germany and is the 1.25" / 32mm AS hose but with Flex's hose ends (doubt it includes any floor wand). You can always buy the standard Nilfisk hose ends later (part #ers below). Locking end on tool end shown in photos looks unique to Flex. Controls on front for suction force and turning pulsing off when using fleece bag. Photos below are of a demo unit, note only 2 dials as opposed to 3 in Acme website photo. Comes with Hepa filter, you get a cert of compliance for filter meeting EN1822 H13, etc. --------------------------------------------- *edit* Ok - Ron Burgundy color on Acme site is wrong and they are changing photo so color should look exactly like "demo unit" photo(s). The Acme units will come with only the 2 dials, as shown on demo unit. I believe only the 'M' / 'H' class has the 3rd dial. This unit being an 'L' class won't have the visual or audible indicator either that lets you know when bag is full or has lost suction. I read that 'M' class is the minimum requirement on certain job sites so this may not be a bargain if that applies to you. Another thing I note from the photos is that the accessory tool power port on the demo unit says 550W. Nilfisk varies the wattage from country to country so Euro gets 2400w (10amps at 240v), GB gets 750 ~ 1750w at 110v, but N.A. only gets 550w /4.6amp. Don't know how much good 550w is going to do anyone.

I live ~15 minutes from the Acme Tools in Plymouth, MN. When I swung through the other day I saw the Flex vacs, and yup the "Ron Burgundy" color is spot-on.
I'm still running my Attix 33/44 regularly in my shop and it's performing like a champ. I also have a Metabo- and Mafell- branded Starmix vac and prefer them for on-site work, but the Attix 44 with a Long Life bag works great in the shop.

It actually is that Burgundy color on the far right?! I must have spent an hour on the phone speaking with the Flex reps and Acme trying to get the details nailed down and they assured me it was the 'Red' in the left (demo vac) photo. My post above was me trying to find the flaws in the deal and convince myself to buy one (which I did - but it won't ship until the 10th). Although I've been mulling over the proprietary hose ends, 40lb weight, and wondering if I should put the money towards a 'M' instead. If it really is that Burgundy color I think I will cancel the buy and just do it right and get the full kit with wand etc. (that 'wine' color bothers me 'that' much, which I guess they could tell and bald faced lied to me). ------------------------------------ *edit - well I see they updated the photo just now but it's just the same shot manipulated / color shifted because there's still 3 control dials. I'll take your in person "spot-on" color comment as reality (thank you). Maybe I'll just buy a Nilfisk hose instead (lol) that seems to be the best part anyways.

You've done me a huge favor, inadvertently, already so please don't put yourself out. Even if it is a bit less purple I would have still been surprised & disappointed. You've also helped me see in a round bout way that it wasn't the best deal for me, not just because of something minor like color. (it may have tipped on the weight of the vac). If I read between the lines of your posts on the Nilfisk it's a very good vac.... but... it's a bit large and maybe heavy compared to other offerings if portability is important. The back pressure filter cleaning might be less desirable than a mechanical shake due to momentary loss of suction etc. etc. Acme did send an email today stating that the new photo better reflects the color and that it only has 2 dials (which we all knew anyways since it's and 'L'). But even though it's a great deal all around I still got out of the queue and canceled. I'm surrounded by great deals as I write this that are all collecting dust (in the wrong way) and it's not a good reason to add to the collection. (lol - I did just now buy the hose and a 27mm reducer. I wanted to try the locking end that you mentioned a while back as fitting the mt55 dust port). All good.

Ultimately, having used the vacs head-to-head, my preference is to use the Starmix (Mafell, Metabo, etc...) vacs, particularly for on-site, mobile use. They are compact, and I appreciate that they only clean the filters when necessary. The down side to the Stamix vacs is they are limited to the smaller size of bin (short of buying the 50 gallon Mafell setup), so if you're producing LOT of chips in the shop it may not be ideal. That being said, the Nilfisk (and rebranded) vacs are great, and would be my "Go-To" if the Starmix didn't exist. The Nilfisk "33" size is comparable in size to a CT-26 and quite portable. The "44" size is a little better suited to shop use due to its increased size and weight. Note that the "33" and "44" share the same upper motor section, they just have different bins. BTW, my Mafell S-35 took a tumble in the van the other day (took a speed bump too fast, vac launched off a shelf, took a 4' fall to the floor) and needed some parts. Timberwolf Tools has been great with parts support, and got the S-35 back up and running very quickly. My experience repairing other tools has been challenging, so it was a breath of fresh air to have such a nice experience.
