I just received the Mirka Ceros. I have not sanded with it, but I tried it without any load. It feels amazing in my hand.
I think more green tools will hit Ebay pretty soon.
I am planning to purchase a rupes big foot or Flex XC3401VRG for polishing. I was thinking to keep the RO125 for polishing , but I don't know.

Interested in the new Deros line by Mirko. As usual I expect a full review...

I hope you like your CEROS! It's been a great sander for me. If you can get over the transformer box, I'm sure you'll like it. It shares it's character with air sanders more than the traditional electric sander, as in weight and handling. It handles better than any electric sander out there, and believe me, I've used many.. The Deros is interesting. I haven't used one yet, but hear it has a break pad. The CEROS doesn't have a break pad, neither does air sanders. That's where you get a truly random orbit which translates to a better finish with less predicable swirls. Break pads restrict the random movement and in some cases (festool rotex) they are too tight and the finish suffers. I try to avoid break pads on "random" orbit sanders now.

Notes taken. I must admit sanding and finishing aren't usually handled by me in my line of work. So your experience and opinions are extremely valued.

Another very positive vote for the Ceros. Great sander. My most used for sure.

I have been zeroing in on the Ceros. Looks like a great sander but I dont see it replacing my RO as its a true work horse.

I read about that and saw different opinions. I will test against my Rotex.

It will be hard to test considering the Rotex has two modes of sanding. I use the Rotex all the time and find its range of ability to be un-matched. Just yesterday I was sanding on Rotary mode with 40 grit paper and then to Random Orbit all the way up to 800 grit.
The Ceros I think would be a better fine finnish sander and best for long term use with less fatigue. It also would be nice since you can use it with one hand and hold or move the workpiece with the other.

That's a sweet sander!
+1 on the Flex XC3401 too. With it's forced rotation and orbit it's a huge time saver over a Random Oribit.

It also would be nice since you can use it with one hand and hold or move the workpiece with the other. They are completely different sanders and it would be difficult to compare them in terms of what they can do. The only thing that's similar about them is they both use 6" pads. In the time that I owned a rotex, I wouldn't consider it a fine finish sander (for furniture or cabinetry). It's way to heavy and clumsy for that, and the balance is awful. I look at the rotex as a "muscle"'sander. It has plenty of grunt, it's a brute of a sander and can get a lot of jobs done. A great tool for a carpenter or painter. I feel the CEROS is more suited to the furniture maker/ cabinet maker. As a furniture/cabinet maker, there isn't many times i needed the rotary mode of the rotex. The light weight combined with the superb balance of the CEROS seems perfect for finishing furniture and cabinetry. I can sand all day (I do it often) with the CEROS, one handed and suffer no fatigue. With the rotex I would be an hour in and want to put it down. I can finish sand a cabinet carcass on the vertical surfaces, one handed easily. The CEROS and rotex are like chalk and cheese. A better comparison would be one of the ETS sanders.

I tested the Ceros and the RO125 at woodcraft before purchasing the Ceros. I kept drawing with a sharpie permanent marker on a piece of hard maple and sanding it off with the Festool on Rotex mode and the Mirka on "high". The Ceros kept sanding the marker off in the same amount of time which surprised me because I could literally handle it with two fingers on the sander. I went in planning to buy the RO125 but left with the Ceros. The Ceros is the sander I use the most.
That said, I would like to own the RO125 also. I like the fast fix feature a lot for the pad change out. I don't like that the ceros has to be threaded onto the hose end, I would rather leave the rubber end on all my vac hoses. Taking them on and off ruins the connection so now I have one of the hoses that is dedicated to the Ceros. I have looked for a connector to work with the rubber end but haven't been able to find one.
I have since purchased the RO90. I like its versatility. Triangle pad comes in handy a lot. Rotex setting is wild and unruly for sure but I kinda like it for some reason, doesn't make logical sense.

I decided to remove the soap scum from my "glass" doors shower. (I know they are not glass, it is plastic, but I really like to call them glass, it makes me feel better ) I started with my RO125 and Platin 1000, 2000, hard felt and compound polishing. It was taking a lot of time and heavy, I switched to my Ceros 220 and went up to 600 then I switched to RO125, platin, hard felt polishing and they are looking better than new. It is so easy to work with the ceros, better when you work above your head.

fidelfs castro- thanks you so much! I have been trying to solve the vac issue off and on ever since I got the Ceros. I read a few recommendations from the FOG but could never find anything I was happy with. I am looking forward to putting the rubber end back on the hose. That hose threaded connector has been my only mild complaint with the Ceros. Solved.
