I do understand your reasoning and i don't know if the timberframing tools really are worth that much more money. I was considering the KSP 85 but luckily found an old AP85EB which totally satisfies my needs. I'd mix and match if i were you: the HC 85 plus dado attachment can probably do 90% of what the Mafell Kärvenfräse does. Do the remaining 10% justify an additioal 1600 Euro? Not to me. I think Mafell is getting away with these prices because customers are overwhelmingly professionals and they get further incentives by the Berufsgenossenschaft to buy machines that are considered 'safe'. And even the well-off tradesman do not necessarily sport a whole bunch of Mafell, but buy on a need-to-have basis.

Hey jonathan , for comparison.....that fine tool list would cost 11,670 euros in the USA plus shipping for 120 volt tools.
Have noticed on the German language Mafell website , they are now offering 3 year "complete" warranty ,the description is German with no translation .This could be one added expense to the EU countries price structure .

Not making light of the matter but I guess this also means that resale values go up as well.

I do realise people who don't reside in Europe are far worse off and always have been. But the point is that the prices have been increasing since January and are now up 25%. However you slice it, that's a huge price bump! As for the warranty, if I'm mistaken please correct me, but in Europe, we've always had 3 year coverage with some dealers even extending it to 5.

I think we all get the 3 year warranty when we register in Europe, but I think in Germany and possibly a couple of other countries also have extended to 5 , service plan and theft cover

I'll agree with you jonathan - massive price rises across the range. I'm feeling slightly relieved I made a big order at the end of last year - but very frustrated it didn't include the Erika - which is now so crazy expensive... Didn't Festool get hit with a fine for price fixing or controlling the price dealers sell at?.. is this the same thing going on, or have Mafell increased the price they sell to dealers?.. anyone got an inside line on this?

Well, it's done... Just ordered a Festool HK85 with FSK rail and groove cutter block attachment and SSU200 sword saw. I simply can't justify spending this amount of money just to stay with Mafell's guide rail system. It's just way too expensive.
The KSS80 is double the price of the Festool HK85. The groove cutter block is 1/4th the price of the MF26. And even though the small Festool sword saw can't come close to a ZSX, the price difference is just astronomical at over €4000....
I take comfort in the savings and the fact that the Festool tools still fit in a systainer, which for me is an important pet peeve for transport and organisation.

Nice new set of tools ,Jonathan . That sword saw looks to be mighty handy for beam work. With the prices going up on on everything, about time to raise our prices as carpenters,woodworkers...etc etc .
