Knight Woodworks, if you want to do rabbets or grooves, the riving knife can simply be pushed down .

Good point. Unfortunately I'd like to be able to make plunge cuts on the TS, the knife doesn't go down enough to permit that.
The bigger issue is that the riving knife on my Erika 70 is not co-plainer with the blade. I'm not the only one with this problem. Removing the knife is a PITA. I think Mafell should make the riving knife easy to remove, other manufactures do.

Is the problem with "easy to remove" is that most do not leave them on?

Is the problem with "easy to remove" is that most do not leave them on? I always use my riving knife. It can be annoying on saws but it's probaby a good idea so I leave it. Especially with crap wood that wants to warp as you cut it.

I don't really like plunging on a table saw. I do it and it can be handy but I don't really like it

Improvements ? Sure . Have adjusted technique to work with the saw ,seems all portable power tools have small issues to deal with "Mafell is no exception" .
When in doubt about the Erika , go use any portable table saw " Delta , Ryobi , Dewalt ,Makita ,Bosch ,Sawstop ,Hitachi " and reconfirm the quality of Erika saw . In fact just today.........absolute no 240 volt power , had to use a Makita . Disposable contractor grade table saws...smell like rotten shrimp and cut really bad .

I usually like to have the riving knife on, but the guards seem to be "in the way" 1/2 the time...

I took the Irving knife out, put a grinder to the bottom, so it has 2 parallel blades. It easily slides back in when needed (it's always in) and if I do a lift cut ( I don't like plunge cuts either) I pull it out make my cut, and put it back. Easy

Nice! I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking seriously of doing some surgery on mine. I was doing beveled rips the other day and the knife hung up on every one.
