The little beast continues to impress. Did some cutouts in 27mm oak (kitchen sink cutout) and cut down same counter top to size. I did expect the little saw to struggle a bit with chopping down the oak counter top but it did a great job. I don't know if it is because it runs slower or if it is just the lack of cord but I was going to do the cutouts with the Mafell P1cc jigsaw but decided to try plunging the KSS40 - it felt a bit easier than with the KSS300 and it did a really good job. Finished off the corners with the P1cc so the oak cut out wouldn't pinch the KSS 40 blade. The 18V continues to impress. Now Mafell needs to come up with a 18V Jigsaw so I can ditch my Carvex - and a Multicutter when they are at it ...

I'm no jigsaw aficionado, but I have the 18v Metabo barrel grip jigsaw and rather like it. Blade tracks fine, even with gigantic blades on it. Has available track sleds too, though you'll probably need to import.

While I love my KSS 40, I don't think mafell should start specializing in cordless tools. Leave that to metabo and others.

Thanks for the input. For my sawing needs I could probably add the Metabo barrelgrip at some point. I am not _that_ dependent on a battery powered jigsaw but it is more of a convenience thing. I have the P1CC but it does me no good at the lumber yard if I need to rough cut some wood to size or something like that. I probably would prefer the Metabo to the Carvex 420 (which I have sold off with no regrets). I don't think the Metabo multicutter 18V is for me since I use Supercut/Vecturo blades but hopefully Festool will add a 18V Vecturo in the years to come. That would fit the bill nicely.
I have given up the "one battery platform" idea but at least I would like to divide the gear and spread across no more than two platforms, Mafell and Festool is where I am at now. Both of them limited in the 18V arena but at least Metabo can fill in some blanks on the Mafell side.
For me a jigsaw is more of a blunt instrument but there are times and confined spaces where a cordless jigsaw does the job. Even if it is sometimes just chopping down scraps...

Great thanks GF. Looking at getting some metabo lihd bits then and a kss40 bare unit.

Ya that's the great thing about lihd is that it's backwards compatible and is said to improve performance. The 40 performs exceptionally as is btw
