Hi there,
I recently purchased a KSS 300 from Germany (I'm in the UK) and was very impressed with it in use. Sadly, during the 2nd day of use the machine stopped powering on. I haven't been using it inappropriately and it hasn't had any knocks.
Because it's from Germany I've been using a UK plug adaptor, but that isn't faulty.
If anyone has any idea's as to why this has happened I'd appreciate hearing them - perhaps I'm missing something obvious. If not it's bitterly disappointing as I'll have to go back to the table saw to finish the project that I'm in the middle of whilst the saw is sent to Mafell.
Incidentally, does anyone know the returns process for the UK? I'm in Inverness.
Many thanks,
Seb

That's a shame I presume you registered the tool as the tool was imported from Germany your best bet is to get in touch with mafell and see if they can arrange something for you in the way of a return. The UK agents understandably get a bit upset with the imports so might not be to willing, that's why getting in touch with mafell might be your best bet. Obviously check all the main things like loose cables etc

I've checked the cables and it doesn't appear to be a problem with the trigger switch. When the switch is engaged I recorded 2.7M ohms across the mains plug, unfortunately my knowledge of electrics isn't good enough to tell me if that's to be expected from this 900W motor of if that indicates a problem.

How do you know it is still getting power through the adapter?

How do you know it is still getting power through the adapter? I used the adaptor with another device. There's nothing actually in it - just metal plates.

I beat the living crap out of my 300 for years until I finally killed it. It was equipped with a north American adapter. something is certainly afoul. I summon the electric wizards Red, Holmz!

I would expect things to die early on.... certainly electronics. Of they last a few weeks then change cords.
I think you need to send it in.

Thanks for the replies, looks like it's going to have to back for repair. Hopefully it'll come back before I have to re-floor the house!

That sucks big time. I miss my 300 every day. Going for the cordless version this time around. Please let us know how service for your machine goes and the cause of the problem if you find out. It will help other forum members who might encounter the same problem in the future. Good luck

Bad news Seb. I was thinking of getting the kss400 or kss60 from germany as its so much cheaper. Would be interested to know how you sort this out.

Not trying to insult, did you purchase 220v German tool and plug into 110v UK power? I have had no issue with my 220v German tools with USA 220v power with plug adaptor. No converter used.
