With all of these new Erika's being delivered I thought you might enjoy this video - not mine as I do not have an Erika, but step-by-step building an extension table that I thought was well done. There is a second video of completing the router table for a Festool OF1400 router.

I wondered if the Erika would allow me to avoid buying a Kapex 120 ?

I wondered if the Erika would allow me to avoid buying a Kapex 120 ? It has for some other folk. Have a look at the videos from the folk on this forum. Wrightwoodwork has put up some excellent ones along with descriptions of how it's working for him. cheers matt

Have both. Answer somewhat depends on your type of work. If I had to do it again, I would have gone Erika first and then some type of SCM, probably not the Kapex ( not a knock on the kapex).

I wondered if the Erika would allow me to avoid buying a Kapex 120 ? That is the conclusion I came to, but I cannot see having a Kapex or SCMS as I rarely do those cuts. I have done them in the past with a sled on a table saw... and pretty much only for mouldings. But yes I came to that conclusion. In that case the LO-65 fitting in might be work considering if you need a router table.

Indeed. I currently have the Festool Ts55. I was thinking of getting the CMS table + Ts55 insert.
The Kapex 120 is insanely expensive and I don't do that many bevel cuts.
But the Erika is even more expensive. Hahaha. I still remember a saw from Bosch. Had a chop saw and a table saw in one same machine.

Those keep coming up in conversation. Bosch wasn't the only one who made them, at the last trade show I went to, some company was promoting their version of that talesaw mitersaw combo. They never seem to really take off, but the idea wont die at the same time.
An Erika is expensive but it's a damn good tablesaw, a Kapex is also expensive but in comparison a one trick pony. I dare say a lot more can be done with an erika, but maybe I'm just justifying the expense.

The ts55 flipped under the cms does not compare remotely to the Erika. The sliding table, pull function, extrusions and fences for the Erika make it as versatile as your imagination lets it.
Seriously there's nothing like it.

But the Erika is even more expensive. Hahaha. I still remember a saw from Bosch. Had a chop saw and a table saw in one same machine. The Kapex is not a table saw, and the in perverted TS55 does not cut 85-mm and with the insert probably sucks out 5-mm. Then there is still no router table. If you add up the CMS and the inserts and the Kapex then that cost can be compared to the Erika. And as I have no idea about how either works I need to defer the utility of both approaches to those that know. Kapex 1450 US$ CMS (P00112) 1225 US$ TS75 750 US$ 3425 US$Erika-85 (Timberwolf : 3580 US$155 US$ does not seem insanely more expensive. But if it is not 155$ better then it is 155$ wasted.

I' have a few of the things on that list so Ill comment. I have the TS55, kapex and the Erika. So picking up the festool offerings of cms, track saw and kapex will undoubtedly get you more bang for the buck compared to the Erika. You get a dedicated track saw, miter saw and a bastardized table saw. You can do the duty of a miter saw on the Erika but it's just silly to use long boards for it and Aaron seems to only do it to prove to us he can . The Erika is also not a plunge saw by any means and nothing replaces a plunge saw for connecting two points or making a rip that varies the length of the board. That said if my tools got stolen today id go out and buy the Erika, a kss saw and a metabo cordless 7 1/4" miter saw. Those 3 saws would cover the majority of my work and is add a mafell track saw in later.

Just because everyone does a task a certain way doesn't mean I have to. That was would be boring

All this makes sense.
Now I have the P1cc, I can get away with it for a while, so no Erika purchase anytime soon for me.
However, I've been thinking about a good joining machine (Domino vs DD40). But that's another story.

Thanks for posting the video ,Mr Tool Junkie .Always fun to watch how adaptations are done by different people .Having tried to make a wood extension table for the Erika saw only to have said table get rained on overnight , complete waste of some nice baltic birch plywood . The expensive table extension made by Mafell is stout and interfaces with the rail extensions quite well .A good investment if trying to max out horizontal real estate around the saw blade .
