Have had this sander for a week now , the grip surfaces and weight are really good . In contrast to my other random orbit sanders the ergonomics are much more refined . The marketing claims of low vibration , Abarnet sanding mesh with edge protector convinced my tool dollars for purchase .
First impression of use: unimpressed!! The sander has a bad balance in rotation and excessive vibration on all grip surfaces .Have checked the pad numerous times for correct orientation on the arbor . In comparison to a Festool ets150/5 and a $69 Makita 5 inch sander this Mafell is bottom of class for vibration control .
Might be defective , with no reply from Mafell for warranty or product exchange the only recourse is help from the internet .
Any one have this sander? Anyone want to share a go to person in the Mafell service department?
Knowing the risk with importing tools from Germany , this will be a cheap lesson or will have a sweet sander to use .

That sounds way different than my UVA115e.
I am wondering whether I even need a circular 150-mm unit with the 1/2 sheet UVA-115. I do have an new bosch.
Back to your sander Joe - Do you need to send it all the way to Germany? And are you?

The power of the internet........... Within a few short hours of posting , Mafell responded to my e-mails . The sander will be picked up by UPS from the jobsite on Monday. This EVA sander is new enough that most dealers do not have experience doing repair work , so yes the repair will happen somewhere in Germany .

The sander is back from Mafell , no better than before . My first correction was to remove the screw on the fan , the interface of pad and fan was causing the out of balance in rotation . Have no idea why this oval head screw is on the fan,the sander is much smoother without it . As for the vibration , this could be a case of the higher hertz rating in the USA causing the problem . Have played with the speed control and have found taking the speed down 1 notch helps tremendously . With the above adjustments made , all is good .

I like my uba115e, so I am not finding the EVA sounding like a great deal. I would like to know someone with both, so I know what I am missing.

I think you might be on to something about the Hz rating as these sanders are supposed to be very vibration free.

I think you might be on to something about the Hz rating as these sanders are supposed to be very vibration free. Actually vibration is one area I know a bit about. I was thinking it was mechanical... But it is possible that it could be induced by the motor. One would need to know the frequency and in what orientation the vibration is happening. I would think that the motor would vibrate in torsion around the axis of rotation, whereas an imbalance would vibrate in a plane orthogonal to the axis of rotation. I have my doubts that one could feel torsional vibration. Measuring either would take some gear or maybe a strobe. I did hear something about the 60 Hz making the gear run slightly faster?? So you may be onto something by taking it down a notch.
