Properly because of saws like the erika and the kss. They properly don't feel the need to make one. That's my guess. I honestly can't say I miss using a scms. It's just a different work practices. Most people are used to scms and to try a different way of working can be hard for a lot of people

Always wondered what one would look like if Mafell made one.

I really do not like any of the current offerings, Bosch glides are too heavy, dewalt has sticky slides, makita's have so many issues(especially bad since some of their older models where so good, milwaukee is huge and heavy but seems accurate, does hitachi make any good tools anymore at all (such a shame they once made the best no nonsense stuff). The festool has too many flaws but it's light and has good dust collection and looks cool. I think mafell could make a kick butt scms.

I've owned the previous model Makita 10"(good saw), Older Hitachi 8 1/2", and now the Festool. I really like the festool saw and would buy again. Its the easiest to use and accurate. No issues mechanically. My ability to dial in cuts went way up compared to any other saw I've used which is primarily related to the indicators for miters and beveling. Personally the ease of beveling and easy to read indicator are enough for me to buy the festool.
If I was in the market for a "no frills" saw I would get the Makita 7 1/2" slider. Model LS0714. Super accurate, light weight, bullet proof, and proven design for at least 20 years.

Hey I got the the ls0714. It's a great little saw. I like the kapex bevel. It's just me and the rest of the saw never got along that well. I still use the ls1211 for bigger stuff.

I think that an Erika and KSS would negate the need for a SCMS. I did not use one for years and just used my cabinet saw and sled, but the SCMS is nice for quick cuts and crown, for sure. I think that the push/pull of the Erika would negate the need for one, though.
