It's official - tomorrow is the start of 'fixed pricing' for Festool tools and accessories, in Australia. We already pay high prices, but could usually get a discount from your local supplier, once you built up a relationship with them. And, my local have a yearly 20% off sale everything in store, including Festool. They'd even order things in for me, prior to the sale, and still give me the discount. Bad move by Festool Australia, surely sales will drop. So glad I became aware of Mafell.

Fixed pricing is already in the USA. Dealers can loose there product line if they discount. Been dealing with it since the beginning.

It's worse here in canada as our orders go through the states and is priced against the American dollar despite festool being European

Festool used to be the same here in the UK. There was an EU ruling a couple of years back, I think Festool were fined around 8 million euro's and it's been competitive pricing ever since!

Yup, worse here in Canada. Same goes for Mafell for what I can tell. I asked for a discount got told they can't as Mafell really frowns upon it.

Price fixing seems to be a fact of life as corporations buy off our representatives with donations every election cycle. Our only choice is to buy or do without if you can't find a substitute (and I don't consider a lot of junk sold at Harbor freight, etc to be alternatives). Then again, i'm the kind of guy who buys FX Air Rifles for rodent control like the FX Royale 400 or perhaps their new model coming out. www.airgunsofarizona.com/FXImpact.htmlJack

I was just browsing through the forum looking at posts about blades and came across this posting about a deal offering a spare blade. I went to the web site and they are still selling this item at deep discount.
What a sweet deal for the MT55 kit with a spare blade 499 Euros excluding the VAT which is $558 USD for the saw and;
2 x 1600mm Guide Rails 1 x Guide rail connecting bar 1 x Guide rail bag 2 x Clamps 1 x 48 Tooth Saw Blade 1 x Systainer Storage Case FREE 2nd Mafell 092584 TCT Sawblade 162x48x1.2 (48z) (Worth £62.99)
Is it possible to order from Miles Tool and Machinery Centre in England to the USA? I think that comes in about 50% discount (plus or minus depending on weather we get charges the VAT and of course shipping charges).
I suspect not but this is a good example of "free enterprise" and real competition.

Not 100% sure certainly worth an enquiry. They are genuine dealer so the offer is legit. They don't order direct from mafell in germany but through nma in the uk. Which have the distribution rights for the uk

Has anybody else been putoff by this differential in price between the Euro and the North American Price? I'm just trying to justify purchasing this tool which I really don't have a great need for but ( I want one) and the price differential between the English cost and the North American cost - the boat ride is not that expensive folks!
Just venting here so don't take it personal.

That is a sweet deal, but it states on their site that they do not ship to the USA - only the countries listed and the US is not one of them.

I just wonder why Mafell doesn't sell their tools online direct from factory? Why the use single dealers per country to sell tools? why we can't choose from where we buy tools/? I fought that competition is good for all. Any one can explain it to me?

Not 100% sure. I know that in the uk nma has the distrution right and they then have there suppliers who they then supply. From Inverness to London basically covering the uk. Where in europe the shops order direct from mafell. I know that Nathan from nma goes all over the country demoing the tools to people and checking his support network. Nathan has known a lot if these people fir years and has a good relationship with them. Where if mafell where to supply direct I don't think it would be any better than if mafell supplied direct and also people wanting demos of the carpentry machines would be more awkward. So in a way it works
