Anyone got the erika 60e? Would love a 70/85 but the 70 is twice the price!

Looks like the 60e doesn't have the CUprex motor, might be one reason why it's not as popular?

Thought the same thing but I would prefer the longer pull function.

I am thinking the 60e would make a very nice compact/portable machine. For the cost of the basic 70 i could have the 60e with the side extensions/fence, sliding table and the router plate(without the fence as that component alone is half the price of the saw!) I could make a box with wheels for the saw to live in that would also be the stand and make it so when the saw is sitting on the stand the table would be the same height as 2 x sys 4's. I wish it had the cuprex motor. Still undecided, might end up with the 70 yet, tough decision!

What type of work do you do, highlander?

That is really the main question. As the erika's are on the pricey side. It might be worth getting in touch with nma and see if you can have a demo of the machine. I not sure how far you are from Inverness I'm pretty sure Nathan comes up to macarther and a demo could be arranged I'm sure where you stay. If you work more with solid timber especially ripping then the 70/85 maybe worth looking into. If doing more laminated flooring or internal finishings then or light duty cutting tasks the erika 60 might be worth looking into.

I do a bit of everything really but alot of internal finishings/renovations and i'd like to start making more furniture. The 70/85 would be ideal but once you get all the add ons your into serious money, more than i am willing or can justify paying for a portable machine that will spend alot of time getting bounced around in the back of a van.I reckon the 60 would do everything i need it to for around half the price. Its the quality of all the accessories and the accuracy that i love about the erika saws. If i can achieve the same levels of accuracy on the 60 compared to the 70/80 for roughly half the cost(and its still pretty damn costly at that!) then its a no brainer for me. I have been looking at bosch/dewalt/jet/axeminster etc but none of these saws come close to the erika for quality of accessories and accuracy and are really just toys in comparison. I have a couple of friends with large panel saws/band saws so if i have any large timber to rip i can ask them nicely. The important thing for me is being able to make accurate repeatable cuts. Getting the 60 will also mean i can afford a kapex and domino. Got my first child arriving in august so trying to get set up with the best equipment i can afford/justify so i can make some money plus having the best tools makes my work alot more fun. Been using my kss300 alot since i got it, i think every joiner/woodworker should have one, truly awesome little machine with razor sharp accuracy which maybe goes to show size aint everything. I'll just keep telling myself that.

Do they have an erika in the saw centre Glasgow? I am down there thursday, might pop in for a look and drop some blades off to get sharpened.

Whats the max cut capacity on the slider for the 60e? Perhaps the slider will make up for a shorter pull function.

Machines like the erika are special order. Do remember you don't have to buy all the accesories at once. I've just bought the sliding table. It's sitting in the saw center waiting on me to pick it up. If you need anything or any demonstration speak to Tony at the saw center or Nathan at nma. Between the two of them I get looked after pretty well. Just say that Aaron said to ask.

Haha! The cut length for the pull/push is 215mm in 12mm material on the 60, 340mm on the 70 and 430mm on the 85 and i presume thats also for 12mm stock.
