This is a story about an amazing off grid woodworker. A must see and truly inspiring.

Absolutely amazing video. One that gets me inching off my chair with a strong urge to run into the forest. You had spoken about leaving the city, how's that plan coming together?

Its moving Forward. Got some land adjacent to my mother and Father in Law. Closed on 6 wooded acres and they have 5 which we will be maintaining together. They also have a two car shop and Large pole Barn they have no use for and are offering for my business use. Getting my house ready for the Market while still working and designing house plans is getting burdensome.
Considering several short term 2-5 year house ideas before building but we will see. Really excited about the change and how it will benefit my long term business plans. Thinking a bandsaw mill is certainly in my future.

This is one of the best grand designs, was on tv here a while ago. Very individual and inspiring guy as well as the building.
I would love to be able to build a place in the country, working towards some kind of timber framed construction possibly involving green oak in a few years time. Either that or building a floating home on a lake. We are trying to make a 5 year plan just now to be able to do it.

GhostFist, You should live part time in the country during the summer in a a small cottage. Take that time to craft some commissions or hone a product. Have the best of both worlds.

Well summer is my busy time in film here in the city. I need a total transition. I would leave this industry in a heartbeat if I could remain stable in the jungle. I have to do some number crunching, see if I can work less and less here to eventually transition out in the woods. a large part of my overhead is just maintaining a downtown lifestyle, which I'm very weary of. If I can do more for less out there and build more of a personal business that would be a dream come true. While I am incorporated, 99% of my business is through the film industry here in toronto and as such through our major Union. I've been fairly out of practice on private gigs and really detest renovations especially how they are done in this city. Would love a little custom cabinet/furniture shop ideally, maybe get into some timber framing as well though timber framing is by no means my expertise (i've never done one)

Still be good to get into. Maybe a case of finding a good squad willing to show the ropes. It's something I would like a shot of

Better start building some relationships in the local city galleries, Ghostfist. Great place to diversify a business and product line.
Like the house boats. Looks to be about 800 square feet.
