My $20 Home depot stud finder is acting erratic so I've been using my magnetic torpedo level to locate studs. Typically, I'm hanging cabinets in low rise residential, so wood studs mostly but I wondering if anyone has a unit that detects plumbing, metal objects and is under $100? Or what is your favorite?
Thanks

I have one of the pricey Bosch d-tect wall scanners, it has it's uses, but slow and frustrating to use - all 4 wheels need to be in contact or it pops up a message that a wheel is slipping and you need to start again. I picked up one of the simple Bosch GMS120 scanners for around 100€, for basic checking i.e. that there are no cables, finding studs, etc., it does the job.
