I would really like one, I can get the Starmix version at a reasonable price from Germany without batteries. I just find it a real shame that there is no mains adapter available - I have a 5 year old Makita that is either 2x 18v or 230v - it can't be that hard to do.
Let us know how you get on with it if you do get one - you will probably need an extra 2x batteries though, unless you can keep battery use to 2 a day and charge over night.

I only want it for install work, so mains not really a consideration for me. I'll be able to leave my CT26 in the shop. Will definitely get another battery or two, if I don't go with the above deal.

I've been thinking of buying one of these as well. So I go to my local Sydney Tools to have a look at one but the guy said they weren't prepared to pull it out of the box because it's to hard to put it back in. He also said even if it was out of the box I wouldn't be able to test it out with my own batteries because then it would be used. Why would I fork out over $2000 if I couldn't at least see what the suction is llike. I would not buy from Sydney Tools. Seriously lousy service.

My local United Tools has one on the shelf and they're always willing to let you try before you buy - do you have one near you?

I only want it for install work Did you end up getting one? Couple of years later and I picked one up yesterday - 40% discount, for one that had been on display but never used. I want to leave my Midi under my mitre saw and CT26 for all other shop tools. This one will be used on site as well as around the house, cleaning our cars etc. Got two free 5.2ah batteries via the current Metabo Australia promotion, as well. Currently building a new bathroom at home, nice to now not having any corded tools in there.

Couple of years later and I picked one up yesterday Let us know how you get on with it, especially run time... So far, so good. Suction seems to be much stronger than my two festools. For most tasks I can't see using full strength, the middle setting will probably be enough. (It has three settings). It recommends 10ah batteries, so will buy a pair of them today. I'm tempted by the double charger, but already have x2 Metabo and x1 Mafell chargers, so will leave that for now. The remote button works as per the festool I'm already used to, haven't used it with the 'vibration sensor' yet, but will this weekend. It can run on x1 36v battery, but they are insanely expensive down here - could buy three 10ah for the same money.

Let us know how you get on with it, especially run time... haven't used it with the 'vibration sensor' yet I have the vibration sensor with plug adapter, it works very well when fitted to a tool, (and fairly well when it's on the vac nozzle), the only downside is having to take it off and fit to a different tool. The last couple of months I've been using it fitted to my arm like a watch - the vibration sensor only works with extreme vibration like this, i.e. chipping with an SDS, but I've just got used to turning it on manually and I always know where the button is.
