Obviously Mafell don't make a plunge base for the KF1000 - they don't even make the trimming base for it, it's made by Virutex. So that was the obvious place to start looking... except you can't buy the plunge base on it's own - so I got the FR356Z set of motor and plunge base thinking this would work - but it doesn't. The KF1000 base is a lot larger around the motor body the Virutex motor - so despite having a 43mm collar, it doesn't go in far enough to safely clamp up. Thought about milling out part of the plunge base to give some room, but this is not possible with the way it's made... shame as it's a fairly good quality plunge base, so back to square one...
Metabo make the FME737 motor with an FME738 base - which you can buy on it's own!.. except they're too expensive. One came up in a sale, so for 140€ I grabbed the Metabo plunge base - the KF1000 fits OK - and I haven't had time to try it!... quality is average, not really any features to it like micro height adjust, etc. - I'll report back once I've had the chance to try it, but at least there is a plunge base for the KF1000 motor.
