Hi there, I just got an extension wing for my Erika with the hole for a router and two reducing rings/bushings.
What routers are people using in their Erikas?
I'd like to use the substantial reducing rings if possible but they are too big for any of my other routers. If I want to use these rings is the only option to fork out for an LO65 or does anyone know any other routers that fit?
I already have the Festool OF1400 in a router table, all I want for the Erika is a half inch round over bit permanently in place. The LO65 would be overkill for this.
Any ideas?
Thanks! Kevin

I sold my Erika 85 a while ago due (ironically) to a lack of space. I owned the extension table, reducers, and the router fence kit. I understand that both Festool and Mafell have stopped selling the extension tables with holes for routers due to EU regulations concerning temporary routing platforms. This aside, I used mine with both an LO65 and and LO50. The LO50 base fits directly into the holes redrillled in the extension table. The LO65 base requires adaptor bars to use the same holes. Occasionally you see an LO50 for sale, and they are good routers. Made for Mafell by Festool, based on the Festool 1010 model router. However, the baseplate of the 1010 is different to the LO50 and unfortunately doesn’t fit the extension table. Another option is the Mafell router table adapter, but I’d hurry to get one, because like the router extension tables it’s unlikely that these are still being made.

If you don't want anything sophisticated, I'd put a Triton or Trend in the table and drill the extension for the mounting holes. They're designed for table mounting so the height adjustment is easy. Good luck if you find a LO50E - been looking for years...

I got the adapter to put my OF1400 in the extension table, only to learn that the base of the OF1400 is too wide to fit in the table to begin with! So I got an LO65 and sold the OF1400.
If anyone is interested in the adapter, I’ll happily sell mine. It is a very sold piece, and in completely as new.
(Oh, and I found a second hand LO50 a little while ago).
Cheers, Emil

(Oh, and I found a second hand LO50 a little while ago). Did you buy it?.. I'd still like one, though I have the new version OF1010 now.

I'd go for Trend or DeWalt as well. In my Erika, I have a router. It's not mounted to the extension plate. I fitted an table insert between the Erika table and the extension plate. Now I have a bigger closed table surface.

Yes, on the spot. I got it for 200 Euro, and then I spent around 100 Euro on some spare parts for it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm leaning towards one of the DeWalt plan routers. I have one already and they're a great little router with a good fine adjustment built-in.
It looks like the Mafell routers are out of the question unfortunately. A shame they dropped the Lo50.

Cheers, Emil Which routers would fit the adaptor fo you know? I'm not sure I know what it is exactly. Does it fit across the ribs on the bottom of the table and match the 50mm diameter insert? I might be interested in buying it from you. Thanks, Kevin

I'm leaning towards one of the DeWalt plan routers. The DW625 is a solid router, and there is a table mount height adjust knob available for it.

Now I have some measurements. The size of the base of the router should not exceed 13 cm by 18.5 cm. The router is fixed to the adapter by a very simple clamping mechanism that can be configured almost freely. The adapter is extremely solid, being made of 5 mm thick steel plate. I took a few pictures but still need to figure out how to put them here.

You can use an image hosting site like this one - it works for me. It will give you a link to post that will insert the photo. They can't be hosted direct on this forum.

Thanks. Below are my two pictures. In the lower picture, the adapter is mounted in the table.

I have a DW621 on the Erika and used the bottom plate of the DW621 to drill 2 additional holes in the extension wing, rather easy
