Hello I was thinking of getting the DDF40 after all the positive reviews , however I have been offered the older DD40g which is old stock at a very good price !. So I am asking users whether it’s worth spending what will be over twice the amount of money on the DDF40 ? And what the DD40g lacks compared to the DDF40 ?.

I went from the 'P', which is very similar to the 'G', to the DDF - I find the DDF much better for cabinet work, mainly because of the flat base. Also the accessories are great, but unfortunately won't fit on the P or G.

Yes the DDF has an advantage due to the flat base. You can very easy drill holes for middle pieces. With the DD40 it is a bit cumbersome because of the construction. But still possible. I'd recommend the expensive guide rail because the attachments of the DDF cannot really be used. Maybe if one is trilling holes at the side, it would be possible. Also the DDF has two depth and height stops which make working more comfortable.
The Stop pin insert for battens LA will actually fit on the DD40 as well but only the insert. The red plastic attachments of the DDF probably wont, definitely not at the fence. The DDF has extra slots at the fence which the DD40 lacks.
The DD40 P however, will be able to use the big 16 mm bits and drill up to 40 mm deep.
If I were to by new, I'd go for the DDF, tough choice if you can get the DD40 cheap. I have the DD40 P for some years now, like to update but don't. I have enough alternatives so I could resist the temptation since its introduction.

See also here mafell-users-forum.freeforums.net/post/25909/threadThe drawback is, you won't be able to fot the red plastic stops at the fence. If you get the DD40 extremely cheap, it might be worth trying and in the case it does not suit you sell it with little or no loss?

Well I managed to get a brand new DD40g maximax complete for £200.00 so no brainer and have enjoyed it so far but will try and find workaround for narrow stock , because although I have a domino I think 2 dowels will be better and more stable than a single domino in narrow stock !.

find workaround for narrow stock Nice. For me the Stop pin insert for battens LA (206491) is ok. It fits, you just have to be careful with aligning, since you only have the one pin and the fence as guide. But I think half a degree off won't make much of a difference since its small stock.
