I can't recall, has anyone tried out the Makita backpack vacuums? I'm really tempted to give one a go, but hesitate to pull the trigger as I can't seem to find any info on their durability in use and suction power.

I had one of the previous generation, ok for light dust pick up. I keep meaning to get one of the newer brushless versions, much better suction. Give it a miss for the older ones though, not enough suction.

I'm looking at this too, but waiting to see if the Makita 40v version (if one eventuates) competes favourably with the Hilti Nuron version. I don't understand why this area isn't better covered - in terms of suction power/capacity/duration of use, there's nothing on the market (in UK) that fits the bill. The nearest so far for me is the Hilti, but have to wait til end of this year, for that to be released in UK.

There's reasonable amount of tools - cordless makes sense, trully power hungry tools/applications just don't...🤷♂️

I ultimately went with a proteam linevacer, which is a plugin version. So far my only complaint is that it blows straight down on the ground. The mobility and weight of a backpack vs a shopvac style is awesome.
Planning to build a diffuser for the exhaust, will post that when I'm done with it.
