Hi guys,
I am ordering some drills, but the Metabo model permutations have me wondering.
I already ordered the 3 gear quick change hammer drill, but also needed to get a drill driver for my brother. The drill driver w the 3 speed gearbox does not have the anti kickback feature whereas the single speed does.
For those of you who have experience with the anti kickback protection--how useful is it? Should I prioritize that over the 3 gears? Also, why is Metabo offering features so unevenly on their flagship drills?

Hi Could you give us model numbers - I wasn't aware the 3 speed quick was available in hammer model too - I thought all the hammer versions had fixed chucks. Also wasn't aware of a single speed model.
I have anti-kick back on a Bosch 18v SDS - it's good for small to medium bits and cores. Once you start getting up to longer bits that have a habit of slightly catching or binding as the bit goes in - the anti-kickback activates so often as to make it impossible to drill. This maybe that the drill size is outside the real capacities of the drill though - 20mm x 1000mm.

Hey AAS
The three speed hammer model is SB 18 LTX-3 BL Q I (602357620). This model has a quick change chuck
The newer non three speed version of the same drill does not have three speeds and does not have a quick change chuck: SB 18 LTX BL I (602360520). But this does have the anti kickback. The same feature the Hilti drills call ATC.
I was incorrect about a single speed drill, I asssume the regular LTX has two speeds. The Metabo model nomenclature is confusing. I forgot what all the letters signify.
