Ordered myself a Deros 650, 5mm orbit, and a stock of Abranet discs yesterday, which should all arrive next week. I went for the tool only, as I couldn't see the point of the systainer - it won't be leaving the shop very often, if at all. I'm completely used to 150mm sanders, so what's the advantage of the slightly smaller disc? Easier for sanding edges, maybe?? I noticed that you can buy the 125mm disc as an accessory and it's still cheaper than the set with sys, so will probably add one to my order, if it's worthwhile. What do you think, worthy addition to the sander?

Very worthy addition especially for edges... I put the 125mm disc on the 5mm Deros a couple of years back - still on there!

Good question... whatever came with it. I have the 5650 which is supplied with one of each pad. 150 mm - 8292605011 125 mm - 8292502511 On the Mirka website it lists them as medium

Sander landed today, after a delay of a week - which seems to be the 'new normal' now. The seller did throw in a heap of abranet discs and an extra pad saver, for the inconvenience, as well as refunding the express shipping cost. Great service. They even offered to send down a demo model sander for me to use while I waited, but I declined the offer. Sander feels great and has that quality tool look and feel. I have a heap of solid timber and natural timber veneer sanding to do over the next couple of weeks, so a good chance to get used to it. I did add the 125mm backing pad to the order, which they also discounted.

This tool is amazing. The ergonomics are fantastic, no vibration to speak of and I love how close your hand is to the workpiece. The paddle switch really works for me, but might not be for everyone.

The paddle switch was my biggest concern, I'd been used to locking the switch on with other sanders, but I've found in use the pressure required is so low and it sits naturally in the hand.

I use a short 6" length of electrical insulation tape to hold it down when using for extended periods. This way I can constantly change my grip as & when required..
