I have the L-1635 and fitted Hepa filters - wanted to be able to vary suction power, have H class protection and not have something beeping at me. Before going ahead with purchase I was told that when generating large amounts of fine dust, the polyethylene open bag could be used or no bag at all, but that it was also ok to use the fleece filter bags - the iPulse when activated would serve to free up any clogging in the bag, and thereby allow it to fill to capacity. My experience has largely born this out, though a certain amount of dust does bypass the bag, the bag itself fills to capacity every time.
When I first found dust that had escaped the bag I was quite concerned, but now thinking about it the bag is classed M, so it won't be able to catch extra fine dust (that's what the H class filters are for), and also the layout of the bag/filters and inlet, mean the dust is driven forcibly at the bag as it immediately enters, which probably doesn't help.
Although driven to Starmix from Festool (unhappy with their mark 1 Midi model), I reckon the layout re the introduction of dust in their larger models (26 and up) is better - I proved this for myself, when my Midi got a clogged filter and overheated (admittedly being tasked inappropriately), whereas my 20 year old CT22 (it also inappropriately tasked) coped fine with the same job.
Overall I'm happy with the Starmix, I'm confident in the efficiency of the filters and the robustness of the design. It'd be great if they could put the same design/features in a smaller, lighter, more manouevrable machine, and if the cost of the H class filters could come down - maybe that's coming down the line.:-)
If you're looking for something better, and doing a lot of concrete finishing I reckon one of the Ermator/Husqvarna models might be worth looking at as well. They score highly in the TNO tests and basically combine your set up into one machine.

I just noticed after grinding today that I am getting dust past the filter in the same spot. Could there be a hole in the filter? I swapped the filters but am afraid of destroying the motor. If you have swapped filters you should see dust on the other side... it could be hole in the filter, or a damaged gasket (around the top of the filter). Check you have the filters in the right way, they are marked 'Innen' for the inner side if I remember correctly.

Out of interest where are you sourcing Starmix in Germany, I couldn't find anywhere significantly cheaper when I bought mine from Allsaw in 2018?

Allsaw don't ship to France I think, but good prices, certainly for the filters. Have to see if stays like that with Brexit. Maschinox are pretty good, also Reinigungsberater - but Germany is less competitive on pricing this year - sales tax was reduced to 16% to help sales / the economy, and so everyone put their prices up...

Hilti released a new vacuum, I wonder if I can make the festool cyclone work with it. The starmix supplier is giving me a hard time here in Iceland with one of the starmix i pulse vacuums I am having serviced so I might have to ditch that company and go hilti.

What's wrong with the Starmix?.. I thought they didn't break!

ah, there it is - the telescoping suitcase handle. One of my projects for my NilFlex was to adapt that ubiquitous folding hand truck handle to the back instead of their ridiculous fixed / always up handle that stays in the way.

What's wrong with the Starmix?.. I thought they didn't break! Thats what I also thought. It got full of dust and the motor went caput They finally decided to give me a new vacuum after 2 months of waiting and I guess I will be going Hilti when the new one will be available. I just have to think how to adapt the festool to it

I've ruined my old Vax one, by using wet -"universal" filter for dry dust... Not a biggy under £150 moneys Got first NilFisk, suction loss within couple of weeks and I was using dry filters, but universal still got clogged up? Turns out it's massive difference which way filter is fitted- slid on, after good clean up - it was OK. Last NilFisk- religiously check dry filters to fit properly and ("touch wood") good couple of years later, still as good as new.

I just have to think how to adapt the festool to it You can get a new motor dirt cheap: say about Euros 80-100 + postage. There's a couple of "OEM" motor suppliers in Germany for just about each & every European vac ever made. It's relatively simple step-by-step swap. A vac is merely a proprietary motor attached to an impeller (fan) controlled by a fairly basic electronics module. It's one of the simpler, basic, crude & cheaply maintained workshop tools available. I've personally never really understood the need/requirement to replace what is otherwise a perfectly good & serviceable vac merely because the motor is Kaput! A motor swap, & maybe a high-pressure air blowout of the casing is all that's required to make it every bit "as good as new" - for about 20% of the price of a new one!

There are still 2 EU´s. It is not easy to find german shops that ship to Spain Allsaw don't ship to France I think, but good prices, certainly for the filters. Sometimes if you email and ask nicely they will ship - I've found some good deals in Germany with shipping only within Germany, but in the end they've shipped to me in France. I've never come across a German retailer who doesn't have at least one English speaker.
For the Starmix, no choice but to buy in Germany, only one supplier in France at the time and it was more for the cleaning side not the trade machines - didn't even know what an iPulse was!

Yeah, here too. It´s a pitty when sometimes at idealo.de appears contorion and similar shops as the best deals.

Ask Maschinox, they don't list France but they deliver for me.
What model do you want?
