I have one - it is in a badly finished blotchy green - like a very ill frog has vomited on it!.. shame as the red looks nice!.. It is expensive but 100% spot on. I use on both Mafell and Festool rails (mainly Festool), and it does exactly what is asked of it. I'm not sure if this is a 'black' business, I tried a few times to get a receipt for the not inconsiderable amount it cost - Nada, Rien, Zilch... hopefully no tax inspection coming or I'll be paying for it instead of my business. I would like to give it 10/10, but bad packaging meaning a part was damaged during delivery (the replacement was sent FOC), blotchy vomit finish, & the sense I am contributing to an under the table cash business means I give it 5/10. It is square though!

It is square though! I bought an FC square the same way. Lovely quality and great function. But seller insisted on making a Paypal gift rather than business transaction. Possibly they’re boosting their margins as it’s effectively a start-up which started as a sideline. Or it may be because he’s Scottish and the Scots are notoriously tight (from an English perspective).

I heard that about the Scots - short arms, deep pockets! I'd buy another if he'd sort out a receipt for both... a business isn't viable if you rely on Paypal gift payments to have a profit margin. Makes me think he'd run and hide if an item didn't turn up in the post, no come back from Paypal either. We all have to pay tax, charges etc., I gave him the benefit of the doubt first time around as he was shipping to France, but I guess this is how he does 'business'

I probably won't buy any more.

Hm. Well, for that price and the perceived weirdness level of the transaction... I’ll just get a local Community College machinist student to make mine. Seems like an easy enough challenge. 🐙

IKR? I mean - it’s not rocket surgery 😜
.. even if it’s made of “aircraft quality aluminium”.

I have one. Bought it direct from Frank, it's a great square. Frank was just a guy like us having them made but now seems to have some time ins with other firms?
Anyway mine does the job well. Only thing I dont like is the Allen screws on the cams have rusted slightly over the last year. Will have to get some replacements.
They have some other products now, trimmer offset base I also have that's good and also a hinge jig which I dont have and will not buy as i dont like the design. He also has a parallel guide which fits to the square, another avoid for me as its inferior to the senaca ones I think.

..." have rusted slightly over the last year"... I've used a larger size of those fixture clamps in the past and I know they sell replacement cam screws. If you live in a high humidity area you might ask them if they have a stainless steel replacement counterpart. LINK

I probably won't buy any more.I ordered the Mark V red version as well. The one I received was, however, the green one for the Festool/Makita/Triton rails instead. Upon initiating a request for correction, I was initially told that I received the correct item that I had ordered. Then was asked what color was the square I received, and finally was informed that someone else received my red square while I received their green square. I was requested to send back the incorrect item and I would be sent the correct one. Nothing was provided to return the item, and upon researching my shipping costs, (overseas shipment from North America), was going to be expensive. It was agreed by both parties that if I could keep the cost as low as possible, I would be reimbursed for my expenses. This meant placing as little padding around the returned item as possible. After sending it off, I was eventually notified that the receiving party was charged additional expenses for the shipment. Provided a copy of those expenses, it appeared to be for VAT for an item obtained from the US, not for a returned item purchased from the UK. As such, I was no longer going to receive a refund of my shipping expenses. Again, this is all because of being shipped the wrong item, no fault of my own. More than a bit upset with the rest of the shipping fiasco, and the refusal to refund my shipping costs, I made a last contact, laying out all the facts as they happened and delivered an ultimatum. I was going to post the story on social media, and that they had the ball in their court as to what I was going to be able to report. After having done that, I was contacted by Karpenter.UK and notified that after having reviewed the issue, that they would promptly refund my shipping costs. This was expediently done to their credit. None of my prior communications were with Karpenter per se, as far as I am able to determine. I wanted to pass on my experience with Karpenter, as I had stated I would in my last communication to them. They promptly and satisfyingly resolved the situation once they got involved. I did receive the new, correct, square while this was going on and it works well. I also ordered and received the FC Domino Centering Solution. Both tools work well and I am glad to have them. I've used the TSO Products rail square with my Festool rails extensively and the FC Square provides the same level of squareness to the Mafell rails. The TSO product is much easier to attach and adjust due to the spring loaded locking catch. The FC Square requires one to tighten two separate eccentric hex head screws, while ensuring the clamping nuts are properly aligned during the process. If you want to adjust the square along the rail, you get to repeat the process. The FC Square's fold out support on the end of the square is a nice touch and ensures the rail and square are much less likely to tip while in use. Had I known how much headache it was going to be to get them, I doubt I would have placed an order. Having done so, thankfully Karpenter was able to make it right in the end. I still eyeball some of Karpenter's other offerings, but have yet to order, both by the items being "Out of Stock" every time I view them and my previous experience. Curious to know if any others have ordered from Karpenter.UK and what kind of experience you had. Clint

Had a quick look, the domain name was registered early this year. The site seems to be an online marketplace, Frank Cochrane being one of the first to get his wares on the site. Nothing to suggest he is running at last a legit business whereby business owners like me can get 'a receipt' for monies paid - heaven forbid!.. still, it's a step in the right direction, instead of the previous contact by messages on Facebook, Paypal as a 'Friends and family' payment... I still use my hybrid mk4 weekly, no problems with it.
