Legend has it that Mafell tweaks the motor output on their rebadged machines. It is a nice, solid machine. The customer support told me the electronic clutch has higher torque settings to better reflect the intended use case of the thicker wood screws. My experience with electronic clutch is that it’s rubbish. I mostly use small screws. The wire clip may be better than the sheet metal with sharp edges.

I must admit that my finger is the clutch - I nearly always put a drill in 'drill' mode and get on with it.

I‘m working mostly with smaller screws like 3 or 4 mm. Also with small machine screws. Put the drill in highest gear and fire. Here the mechanical clutch is exactly what I want.
Bosch has a nice system where they detect if the clutch has slipped and then switch the motor off.
In wood a torque limit is not ideal anyway and the finger is to be used.

Ahh yes, totally agree with that. Works best when using a Philipps bit in a pozi screw head. 😂

The best clutch for an A18M is an A10M
