Hello to all, I'm new here so bare with me. I've had the MT55 for a few months now but only now had to join the rails. I noticed that the saw catches ever so slighty when passing over the joining bar. I usually have a sacraficial piece underneath the cut and noticed the slight differance in depth from that. Just wondering if this is normal or not, as it seems odd to me. I've not had the time as yet to mess about with it so see if there are any other issues regarding this, but I sure will once I get a chance.

Downward pressure while cutting slightly compresses the grip ribs down and because the tracks are split the grip ribs on the 2nd track have deformed less. The track coupler transfers the pressure a bit better to the left side than the right side but it’s still a split track so you can sometimes feel that little difference. Take a joined pair of rails and test this with finger pressure at the joint. You could also check to see if the grip ribs are bunched up thicker or thinner comparatively at joined ends (depending how they were stretched or bunched up during install).

I just experienced this for the first time using my KSS40 on the F Rails. Turns out it was due to slight flexing of my workpiece and support. Once I fixed that it went away.

I'll give it a try tomorrow. I am using the Mafell 204636 Mafell Connecting Piece F-VS and butt the rails quite tight, well, hand tight anyway. I assumed the grip ribs were of equal thickness, "I shall investigate further" Strange that it transfers pressure to the left more than the right, might this be due to the chamfered edge? I'll do the finger test tomorrow

These two rails were one 160cm cut in half so that should rule out any cupping. There's just a wider section to 'right' (I may have reversed L/R in my perspective) of the track connector than the 'left' so less rigidity. I suppose there are many causes to why the two joined rails diverge enough to feel a slight bump in the road.

A small chamfer with a file, like 0.010" or 1/4-mm might be worth trying?
