Got it real cheap as the springs are missing to retract the guard and Riving knife. I just opened it up and it looks like the connection points to keep the springs in place broke off from the Riving knife/splitter support and the Gear casing. I tried to compare it with the exploded drawings but it's not obvious by he drawings how the springs are fixed. I looked at Eriks pictures in his "Oh snap" thread but they are too small to make it out. Can someone post some pictures how the springs are fixed? I think I'm gonna have to order a new Riving knife/splitter support but I might be able to drill a hole a tap threads in the gear casing to keep the springs in place with a bolt or something.

In the top photo, that looks like a snapped off 'bolt' going into a boss. A way to test this wold be to cut a slot into it with a dremel cut off wheel and try backing it out with a flat blade screw driver. I have no clue if they used thread locker though but if it is a bolt and won't back out easily you could apply heat to area with the tip of a soldering iron for a while.
I'd imagine both springs attach to the same bolt with a spacer between, after that their other ends should just clip over rive & guard somewhere (?)

It doesn't seem to be a bolt, it looks like a molded piece broke of. Anyway I think thats fixable it would just be easier if I could see how it was origanly. The problem is the riving knife side. The blade guard has a small hole for the spring, but on the riving knife it also looks like a piece broke of or I am missing something. I have no idea how to fix that.

ok, I see the problem. You posted it as a KSS 400, the photos you show are of a KSS 40. Let's go from there.

You can't really see on this drawing where the springs are fixed. screw 79 is for fixating part 8. I don't see any screws for the springs. I think I'm going to need new part NR 34 unless I can find sombody thet can weld a tiny piece unto it which I doubt or find a way to attach the spring but there isn't much to work with.

My bad. (that silver linkage bar looks similar to the KSS40 in diagram)

Yep that's it but on my saw it's more to the left. You can also see it on my first picture it's positioned differently then on the drawing. Are there different versions of the kss 400? I think I'm gonna order part 34 and the springs if not to expensive. What is the best way to contact toby for ordering parts? The machine is labeled Typ KSS400 Art. Nr. 916501 Nr. 833389 2007

I'd posted then removed some exploded diagrams I thought looked closer to your version but they were from the 36v. So I guess you have to accept that these are just general line drawings that they don't bother to update for minor changes (?) I come up with the same diagram as you do LINK.

Yep, that's why I asked if someone could post some clear pictures. I just had a look with y friend and now I doubt if riving knife support is broken, it could be that the spring just locks behind it.
