11m44s: New 4Ah, 5.5Ah & 8Ah batteries from Metabo. From what I understood, 8Ah for tools that need long runtime, 5.5Ah for tools that require high amp draw. Fuel gauge seems to have been moved to the front as well.
32m22s: Mafell went shopping with Ruwi I see and worked out a portable workbench type systainer thingy with them.
Overall it seems every manufacturer is going all in on battery powered for the future.

Interesting video. One salient point to me was how well resolved the new(ish) Makita cordless vac is compared to Metabo's. I think Metabo really missed the market by not making their new vac both AC/DC, nor using the extra power offered by having a 2 x 18v version. It's a pity that Makita still have a (currently inferior) Samsung battery cell contract: Metabo's advantage that allows their tools - in this aspect at least - to stand head & shoulders above all others.
Then there's Makita's bluetooth remote vacuum control, which is extraordinarily more convenient than Metabo's rather ineffectual footswitch. I'm not absolutely sure, but it appears that Makita's bluetooth transmitter modules are integral with the tools. If so, then Festool's approach (a removable transmitter collar attached to the hose end) makes cordless operation much more convenient. Maybe it's time for the various competing manufacturers to get together to design some form of common bluetooth (or other electronic/radio transmitter) interface.

This video makes me regret that I don't do manual labor anymore. So much good stuff coming out now. I've said negative things about Metabo here (mostly US distribution), but I could honestly see myself running their cordless stuff, almost exclusively, if I was doing general carpentry or "first fix" as many of you would call it.
The auto detailing nerds are getting super excited about those cordless Flex polishers. Milwaukee is the only other company I can think of that bothered, so far.

The handle is free and they sell you the razors, Unless, of course, you buy a Merkur and $3 packs of Feather safety razors. Regardless, these companies will never standardize things like battery packs and bluetooth remotes. For one thing, in this analogy, it's the tools that are the razors. They want you locked into their ecosystem.

2019, new LiHD battery tools coming out from Metabo. - Battery powered compressor. - Battery powered vacuum. - New compact drill.
I'm invested in the battery platform, and have been waiting a long time for these 2 but I always end up dissapointed. It's always not quite a finished product from Metabo. For example the systainer vacuum. Why is it not dual battery for more power? and WHY ON EARTH DOES IT NOT CONNECT with other metaloc boxes or systainers??
Now this compressor, why on earth is it not silent, but AGAIN one of those deafening 80-90-100 decibel tools...
Anyway, have a look at the video. Some nice new things coming to market.

They briefly show a couple of CAS (Cordless Alliance System) tools - I've got the Rothenberger compact plumbing press, great tool - also show the Steinel cordless glue and heat guns... no info on the Steinel site yet, but will be interesting to see pricing.
I agree with you Jonathan, a lot of Metabo stuff is not as refined or finished as it should be. Is the new vac mains too like the Makita?.. failing that, it would be nice if a mains adaptor came out to power these 2x tools!.. keep dreaming I guess!

Who is making that Sawstop style contractor saw? Is it Metabo or Festool?

This is good news if they get a decent range of tools out. Maybe time to sell on the A10M and all my Metabo 10,8v tools before the word gets out!

I've been using the Hilti 12v kit quite a bit the last few months and have REALLY come to appreciate the utility of a nice, light, compact driver set. I have the 1/4" driver, impact driver, and 3-jaw chuck drill, three 12v batteries and a charger, all fit in a tiny bag and are one of the first tools to leave the van.
The Hilti 12v platform holds some appeal for me since they also use the batteries for their higher end lasers and some other tools, but I'd be interested to see what other tools Metabo releases in the new 12v platform....
