The "400" is Metabo's brushless impact driver. It has pretty good reviews from users, but requires an accessory 1/2" square - 1/4" hex adapter of course. Still not quite the equal of Makita, however. Makita still make the largest range of the best & most versatile rattlers on the market. Just ask any builder! i have a makita impact i must have bought 8-10 years ago. it looks like bloody hell but the thing will not stop working.

The Metabo 400 bl is indeed a beast for its size and weight, but its classed as an impact wrench instead of a driver, since it takes 1/2" square sockets.
Makita makes the best impact drivers on the market, hands down. If you want to stay in the Mafell/Metabo battery system though, there are rumors of a new brushless impact driver in spring 2017.
