My pleasure, every once in a while there's a little vindication for spending all that time on reconnaissance.

Very nice find!!! I absolutely love my Metabo branded version of this vac, gave it a good workout today breaking a sidewalk with my Hilti TE-1000 and the DRS system. $500 is a steal for this vac, particularly since it comes with HEPA filters and an anti-static hose. Thanks for sharing!! PS: Remember, Timberwolf Tools can order any of the bags through Mafell. Also, the Festool CT-26 fleece bags fit as well.

Wow, you're not exaggerating, you really do love using that vacuum. I almost grabbed the 36ac at the last reconditioned sale but that slipped through my fingers so i've been debating on when would be the best time to grab the Metabo . I changed up my google search and found the cs unitec at ohio tool for over 800.00 but that at least confirmed that there were other brands of starmix that we didn't know about on the forum. A couple of clicks later and i found the ebay deal and could hardly believe it. I thought about getting two at that price.
Are you leaving the HEPA filters in when sanding compound and or concrete? And how did you like using the plastic liner?

And how did you like using the plastic liner? Hi Erik!! Yup, absolutely love this vac. If I was only processing wood dust in a shop I'd probably opt for a CT-26 (easier to get parts, etc...), but for job site use these Starmix vacs are Kings. I have been using the HEPA filters for everything. For wood dust and general clean up I've been using the fleece bags for the CT-26 since they're only ~$8/bag and very tidy. When I plan on cutting, grinding, or sanding a lot of cementitious dust (plaster, drywall, concrete, etc...), I opt for the plastic bags. I think they accommodate a larger volume of dust than the fleece bags, but are a little messy to change bags. The plastic bags cost ~$16/bag. The vac is very impressive. It can tell the difference between a clogged/pinched hose and a clogged filter, and I personally feel it has a softer sound signature, compared to the CT vacs. If you're on the fence, I'd say go for it!

Erik,
Thanks for the hot tip! I picked up one of these yesterday. I've been looking around for an iPulse for a while. More than a little of the motivation to get this over a CT26 was due to Tom's enthusiasm for his Metabo. Sitting on the fence, in this case, paid off.
(Too bad I'm about to be bitten hard by a Timberwolf order. The small annual price increase and the large US dollar increase will make for a very painful experience. An MT55 and a DD, both with all the fixings, is going to put quite the crater in my bank account. In that case, waiting sucks.)

Good find!
Anyone know what the CS Unitec warranty is? I don't see a mention on the eBay listing or the CS Unitec site.

Got home from work and saw the box. Unpacked it and right off the bat, this unit feels tight. I know we're global, so tight means really well engineered. Any concern I had about refurb or lemon have been quelled for the moment. Oh, and the only difference from the image shown on ebay is, this unit has green accents and red wheels. I think it denotes HEPA, hence environmentally friendly.
Hey Tom, thanks for the heads up, I'll be looking for some less expensive plastic liners that are comparable in quality. But I'll pick up some fleece units in the meanwhile.
Hey Cg, I'm in the same boat, I dropped a lot on equipment since the beginning of the year and I still have a ways to go before I'm satisfied. Looks like I'll have to take some real problematic jobs this year.

Just a clarification- what do you mean by "real problematic jobs"?

Last summer, I took a kitchen job, or at least that was the starting point. But first I had to fix the leak in the roof, 20 years, 10 contractors still leaked and we're talking multiple flat roof planes intersecting into an extremely steep gable with a lopsided dormer. This is a 1920's bungalow that had additions added as the family grew. Anyway each square foot of flat roof weighed over 100 pounds, so try peeling that up with 10 years worth of hot flashing patching pours in 90+ degree weather. And that wasn't even the worst of the job, I had to jack beams back into place, rewire the panel, match 4 different floor levels, expose illegal electric junctions, etc, etc and then do the custom kitchen.
Then there are the Brooklyn basements, 200 years of neglect, cutting out and restructuring timber size beams with LVLS, pet rats, dirt perpetually falling from the ceiling when people walk above...oh and the mold means 8 hours plus with the respirator and air scrubber. Real problematic jobs.

I am interested in 1 maybe even 2 of them, but I have some questions. Maybe someone can answer them for me. Is the suction power the same or better then a festool ct 36 vac ? Also where can you buy replacement filter for the vac ? Can you use it without bags ? Anything people don't like about the vac so far ?
Thank you.
