I have being busy thinking of how much time is wasted on carrying tools from the van to the plot I'm working on. Some days I might start off with a couple of items then at the end of the day there can be multiple items to put away. I personally like to put my tools obviously away. Also I like have all the fixings and nails away and cables away in the van. I could leave the fixing and sometimes I do. The problem is it can be very easy to loose track of what is where.
At the moment a lot of my tools are in different size boxes. The boxes just big with lots of wasted space and there is only do much I can carry at one time. I could have the kss400, nsil gun, box of 90's, box of 63's, twist nails, boxes of fixings, sds drill, cables, transformer. That can be 9 separate items. My aim is to have to boxes so they all work together. Sortimo have there L box range which most of the tools will fit in the appropriate box. Same idea as the tanos systainer system. There is some tools that won't fit in the L box or systainer from what I can work out. This is where sortimo to me starts to win through. The paslode im360ci is on of the main tools that is just a fraction too big. Sortimo have there original metal cases. Which are similar outside dimensions to the L box and slightly bigger internally I think. Will need to phone and find out for sure.
The type of boxes sortimo does is the metal cases which work with the multi slide. Dividers can be added to make different areas or the colour square boxes of varying sizes. The boxes lock at a single point. I have a metal screw box and if you don't watch the tabs can come undone. The one I'm looking at is the 340 tool case 440*330*130 for the im360ci. Then the is the T-boxx which have a transparent lid so can see what is there easily or not there. Same as the metal cases they work with the multi slide. The dimensions are 440*350*80. Then it's a case of picking the one with the best inserts for my needs. For the amount of screws and fixings I use at work one box will properly do. The one I'm thinking of is T-boxx H standard
Now on to the L-boxx which most of the the tools will go in. They also work with the multi slide, trolley and click together. They can be transported on the AluCaddy foldable which is what I'm strongly looking at for transportation reasons.
For my cordless I'm thinking of maybe the LS-BOXX which allow either the LS tray or I box to slide under for drill bits, screws and other items to be kept together. They also click together and work with the trolley
There is the I-boxx 53 or 72 which are basically small screw boxes. Then you get the I-bixx rack which work with L-boxx system
For the nails I'm thinking of M-boxx with dividers
All of these products work with globelyst racking system. The plan is to build it up having a racking system in both the van and where the tools are stored when not in use.
That's my thinking on the matter here is a couple of vids
